please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

It will be turned into Wahoo Bar and Grill. Basically an American version of Walkabout, but tackier.

CLOSED...

...and unlikely to be missed, it was a dive!

There are only 2 reasons to ever go in here. They have large screens for the football when no-one else is showing the match and the clientele aren't the sharpest knives in the block so I can always win on their quiz machine. Poor.

Vile. Noisy, over-heated and with that unpleasant stickiness on every surface that you get in a pub whose management knows that their purpose is to serve drunken morons lager at 3+ a throw, meaning they have no motivation to actually clean anything. Thankfully, this and Yates' take a lot of the stag parties away from the rest of the town. However, even this 'service' doesn't get it so much as a solitary point from me.

When the walkabout opened it had friendly staff and was a good place to have a couple of pints. Now it seems that they only employ humourless robots who seem to be permanently in a bad mood. Still a cheap place to start a days binge though. Double vodka & redbull only 3

Have good prices most of the time,(apart from the food that is) A massive screen for the football, theres the good points>>
yeah can be full of idiots later on and the door staff think they are really clever ha ha

I've found myself in Walkabout on three occasions since I've been here, and hated the experience every time. It's expensive, crowded, hot, sticky, and full of drunken middle aged men who can't keep their hands to themselves. The toilets are vile, the door staff are rude, and the music is appalling. Trying very hard to think of something positive to say about it, but it's not happening.

I would agree with the majority of posts below really. It's a horrible place and I only ever go there if dragged. Horrendously sticky floor, jam-packed full of idiots. But to be fair, it is a Walkabout - you wouldn't exactly go in there expecting a nice quiet pint of real ale...

What a dive.
Full of students, who haven't learned the concept of waiting their turn at the bar as they are the future etc etc.
Overpriced. As someone else said, if this is a genuine aussie pub, i'll give the place a miss... I never like Neighbours anyway..

Not really my sort of place, but have been dragged in a few times. Its loud, unimpressive and occasionally full of drunkards. The drinks have a bit of choice in the way of lager (based on the aussie theme), but limited beer indeed. Few saving graces in my opion, but if you want to dance, or stand like sardines listening to live music... go here.

Well, I don't know - endless re-runs of England winning Rugby World Cup and the Ashes, ram-jammed with freshers in freshers week, enormous bar, reasonable prices, but sometimes 4 to get in! Features live bands ocassionally, doorstaff can be despicable. Pleasant enough mezzanine level if you fancy drinking outside toilets as busy as those at an open air festival, then falling 65 feet down the massive staircase to the dancefloor and bar... Friends of mine also had some things go missing (get stolen?) from the cloakroom. Does have the largest screen in Durham for Newcastle matches though (possibly because it used to be Durham's cinma?)

Should have stayed as Robin's and saved us all from hearing Chesney Hawkes following Men at Work every night of the week. Not to mention the mass brawls involving the police, the doormen, the dog section and the Durham Hardcore outside of here every Saturday night.

If this is the "Awesome Spirit of Oz" then you can be certain I won't be taking a 20 hour flight to experience it proper.

A good bar with a huge dance area once the sport is switched off and the DJ steps up. A wide range of drinks at good prices, and cheap entry for the late night session too. Often offers student deals as well as catering for the locals. It also has a fair attempt at food, so it works both as the start and end of an evening, though probably not both at once.
