Open-plan Greene King pub with a central bar. The two bar staff were struggling to cope with the number of people and were serving people out of turn. When you've got people ordering large rounds including one with 10 Jagerbombs(!), it can clearly take a while to get served in here. It took me 10 minutes to finally get served. Was it worth it? Probably not. Greene King Abbot & IPA was the real ale section. Although they did have 3 Lilleys ciders - Apples & Pears, Crazy Goat & Bee Sting Perry. The rear of the pub has an area for bands and DJ's. There is a more comfortable snug celebrating Dylan Thomas at the front and an outdoor terrace area also at the front. It's not particularly inspiring and not worth the lengthy wait to get served. But the real cider does earn it a point for me. So 5/10.

Bland open plan GK Identikit pub. Ale was okay as opposed to good i recall it being nunerous rooms with much more character back in the day now it's just another bog standard chain style pub.

I visited this pub for the first time on Saturday. Now, granted it was in the evening and I'd been on it all day because of the rugby.
It's a big place inside. The beers I had were served in very good time, given how busy it was, by a friendly barmaid and were decent pints. I shall definitely try this place again, preferably when sober.
I must also comment on the clientelle. They were young, having a good time and I never felt intimidated or annoyed. In fact, I'd like to thank the pretty girl in the lace dress sitting near us. When you bent over, I saw the tops of your tights!

Often I visit this pub, which is on the main street through Uplands... near the student houses, Tesco and a couple of shops and useful cash machines!
This is a really good pub for those who like space and gigs! Though there is a corner for the more cosy-seeking customers (named Dylan's Snug, after one of the famous locals who frequented the pub, Dylan Thomas). The choice of real ale is limited: Abbot Ale, Greene King IPA and one guest, which changes each month at times.
However, the place is not very good for phone signal, unless you go outside in the seating area, which can hold quite a few! And for some reason, the live music has gone louder... which sometimes makes it difficult to hear oneself think!
And the owners can be quite forceful on kicking out time. They are very punctual and like to keep it that way. But then... it's their job, pub and licence, after all!

However, since my last comment, it seems this place has taken a nose dive in popularity, both inside and out. VERY quiet over the last weekend, and talking to some of the locals outside here, its nothing unusual nowdays, since the change of management !!!!!.......

I wouldn't have thought BBC Radio Wales could be taken seriously with that comment either. How often have they visited the Pub......
I've called in here a lot over the last 2 Years, and its a great place to relax outside, and has a lovely atmosphere too, plus reasonable prices, with great staff as well, so I have no problems with the Pub at all. In fact I often recommend it to others.....

It's not the Pub claiming to be "the best live music pub in South Wales" - this ws sad by B.B.C. Radio Wales!

Over the past 5-7 years, Howard the landlord has done a fantastic job of kicking the scum out and turning this pub around into something good and unique in Swansea. Mixed and laid-back clientele, great schedule of local musical talent every week and an excellent outdoor area with canopies and heating. The lack of blaring television screens is a most welcome feature.

Claims to be the " Best " Live music venue in South Wales, someone had a great sense of humour when they wrote that one on the Poster outside....

calm down cecil we are all allowed our opinions! the live music can be ok every now and again but most of the people in the bar look like dungeons and dragons/heavy metal fans

i reckon it's rob siddons who's the smelly type, stay at home with your black rain cloud and bah humbug attitude. This pub calls itself the best live music venue in south wales, not sure if that is totally accurate but it does a damn good job.

Dylan Thomas used to drink here. Need I say more?

Good beer and live music most nights. Lots of students but still worth a visit.

the live music and the smelly student types do my head in
