Website says its been in the Good Beer Guide for 5 consecutive years - doesn't say which though! Last time it appeared was 2016.
Sunday lunch and packed - every table taken for food orders. Appears as though there are two roasts for the price of one (£11.95) - although quite what you do if there are 1 or 3 of you, I don't know.
The beer was disappointing. Four hand pulls on and I went for Wickwar Falling Star. Far too cold - far too murky.
Good community boozer though.

Visited on 6 Aug (Saturday lunchtime). The Wickwar BOB was well past it's best, but the bar staff changed my pint for a Wickwar Cotswold Way (which was in fine condition) without any objection. Friendly chat with man at bar who also had Cotswold Way. Ordered food but one sandwich was forgotten and then took quite some time to appear when we asked about it, which was surprising since it was not busy in the pub. Nice beer garden for enjoying the sunny weather, and overall a good atmosphere but if the beer and food isn't kept in check, then what else is there to a good pub?

What a little gem! Beautiful village pub, very friendly, well appointed, and with excellent rooms to stay over. High-quality rooms with none of that stuffy british b&b culture. Great food, I sampled both the inclusive breakfasts or the capacious lunches. An excellent location for a weekend away or just pop in on a sunny day and enjoy the huge beer garden and excellent beer.
What every village pub should be. Cheers Brendan.

You can't leave it, can you Mister X..
First we are chavs, now we are numpties, how you love to insult us all from behind the relative safety of your keyboard..
At least you are starting to understand that your entries here are subjective and not fact ..... that's a move forward..
I suggest in that future that you refrain from making insulting comments regarding a pub's regulars, reel yer neck in mate!
I'm sure there are many pubs out there that are in urgent need of a MisterX review, So run along now, you've plenty to do......
|
My goodness there are some real numpties on this forum that take offence at other peoples own personal opinion at the drop of the hat .... for goodness sake get out a bit & get a life you people if you are going to get upset just because a member gives *your favourite* pub his/her own personal bad review. What part about BITE's own statement on every single pub page:- "please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously." don't you narrow minded lot understand ??? {sheesh!}
|
well to be honest guys...i spend a reasonable amount of time at this pub and i have never found any faults, well the ladies toilets are a bit chilly..but apart from that never been dissapointed. the atomosphere is always good fun and the staff are always bubbly and happy..if you have a problem with this pub then dont go there, quit moaning and get a life instead of reviewin pubs and giving them a bad review that they didnt deserve!!
i dont think you understand how much effort it takes to run a pub let alone to the standard that that the land lord and lady have!!
so give them a break, they try there complete up most and people like you guys dont help them!!
thanks
xx

Very pleasant country pub with good food

"but facts remain facts - it truly is an awful pub!"
MisterX- your opinions are not facts, they are just your opinions, and it would appear, reading the comments below, .......almost exclusively yours.
Do you have some kind of vendetta against this pub and it's regulars?...... whom you refer to as - " Yate young kiddie "chavs".... why label people that you barely know, in this most derogetory and dismissive manner? .... furthermore what is so bad about Yate/those from Yate?
"Never again" you say in your post of 20 Jun 2006,-- that's SIXTEEN months ago! --- and you're still banging on about how awful this pub is, you haven't been there for over a year and 3 months? - Not really a good basis for objective comment is it?
I frequently cycle from Bristol to the Lamb for few pints/some nice food, have a laugh and a joke with the locals, yes even the youngsters, I think this pub has a nice mix of age groups/types of people from all walks of life really.
I cycle to a lot of Pubs, and would say without any hesitation that this one of the best pubs in South Glos. - Cracking Butcombe bitter and Blonde!

Looks like you've got a serious case of Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) on your hands there MisterX but now you've sussed it, they'll disappear for a while and re-surface under another username or anonymous. The funny thing is - they actually think they are clever ! No rating left, not been in that area for a few years now. If you're new to the site, click on usernames and you'll see where others have been and what they've said about other pubs.

Yes Lord.Lucan and if you check all these new reviews of the pub you strangely find that it's each persons *only* pub review on the whole site too! LOL
Jokers indeed, make up all the things you want about this place "1 posters" but facts remain facts - it truly is an awful pub!
|

|
We had a lovely evening the other Sunday listening to Leon.It is a very pleasant Village Pub and we will be going there again soon!!
|
It's obviously very popular, I expect you can hardly get in through the doors judging by the many people who visit it and then post a review.
|
There have now been 21 reviews on this pub in 8 days.
Is this a new record ?
|
We had a lovely wake for my dearly missed mother, they were so professional and sympathetic
|

|
Had a lovely birthday celebration there on sunday what a great day well done staff.
|
If I was writing my own reviews, this is how they would look....
|
All I wanted to say was that this is one of the friendliest, best run pubs in the area. Brendan & Tracy always make you welcome, the beer is good, the food is good, the staff are great....loads of parking...a beer garden....they take plastic....and they're open all day. What more do you want in life ?

What a Great pub this is!, a testament to the hard work of the landlord and his staff ( who seem to stay with him for many a year ) where does he find such great bar staff? lovely looking girls, and charismatic, but polite barmen, the landlord himself has a cheery disposition and is always very welcoming. I used to drink in the Rose and Crown, and upon reflection, although the landlord kept his beer in very good condition, he was a rather miserable character, the architect of the often gloomy atmosphere within the pub, which he nurtured with as much dedication as his beer celler! When he closed the pub, I must confess, I didn't view the Lamb as an alternative, how wrong I was!, the quaility of the beer is now excellent!, the food is superb!, the locals are very friendly, a fun loving crowd, although the style of their humour can be rather surreal at times. I have only one minor critisism, the locals never seem to have any lighters on them,if you go there, and you smoke, take a heavy duty one, something realiable like a Zippo, as it is less likely to let you down in your new role as an apprentice Ignitor.............

The best pubs are defined by the landlords, this is the spiffiest pub in the Bristol area.
|
This pub is FANTASTIC. The warm welcome from the excellent staff is like a ray of sunshine on a bleak winters day. The food and beer is of an exceptionally high standard, even a tee totaller would be tempted by the huge stock on offer. The Landlord and Landlady are always on hand to keep the upbeat atmosphere buzzing, with the Landlady being especially quick with a witty retort. The large garden is always immaculately kept with garden gnomes helping to get food orders to the right table. To leave the pub at any time is a sad thing but to be actually chucked out at closing time is a very sobering moment. YOU MUST VISIT.
|
Nice friendly pub with a good selection of local beers. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Nice garden for when we have a summer.
|

The Lamb Inn Iron Acton is an excellent well run family pub offering a warm comfortable atmosphere. It is a family run free house and the hosts Brendon and Tracey make everyone feel most welcome. They serve every drink imaginable , including a good range of "local beers". The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. WELL WORTH A VISIT!!!
|
Took my wife to the lamb on reccomendation, she's into home-cooked food i like my real ale, both very satisfied. Excellent selection of both requirements.
|
Agree with comments about beer quality.

Great building - Sadly a great building does *not* a good pub maketh!
I keep giving this place a chance but last week was the last chance, Uley "Pig's Ear" was rank and localish Uley brewery owner Chas would faint knowing a pub could be serving his prestine brew so badly. Whilst there I saw two other people return pints of Sharp's Special too, could not see through the glass it was so bad.
Expensive too- 2.40 for a pint of Black Rat cider when the local going rate averages aprox 1.80. Ouch!
Never again! Sadly not fit enough to tie the shoelaces of now sadly closed "Rose & Crown" in same village. Also full of Yate young kiddie "chavs" on the Friday night in question. Urrrrrgggghhhhhhh.

Nice looking place in a nice area.
Nice customers. Had been recommended by friends
A shame that I caught them on an off day (3 years ago). Sad food, sad beer and, what's the word - service?
