well I'm back so I suppose I must be a two post member now ;)
I must have had my eyes closed when they did the Bass - maybe I didn't notice it because I wont touch the stuff.
The only way the Hart will ever get a varied beer range is for it to go Free house; if Punch taverns ever go through the hoop, this might happen - let's just hope they don't take the Hart down with it.
In regards to supporting my local, it's a bit like supporting a football team - support it through thick and thin.

Oh look another "1 post" member sticking up for a pub. "The pub has never sold Bass..." No disrespect but utter poppycock my friend! I too live locally and have been visiting the pub for over 30 years back to the day's when Bet was landlady, in fact it's my fathers local who lives only 200 yards from the pub and I can assure you 101% that Bass has and was a regular beer at the White Hart for years along with the insipid Courage Best.
As I said in my recent review - it *is* a nice pub and always has been but it's the mega dull beer range that let's it down and always has. To be fair back in Bet's day it was a Courage tied house so she had no choice but in 2009 they do have choice and no excuses. Pubs serving such a dull beer range as they do are 10 a penny these days and customers will look further afield for something else that will tantalise their taste buds and you only have to drive less than 3 miles in almost any direction from this pub to find a better choice. Customer is king and they vote with their feet.

Ok, I've just read some of the reviews and there are some inaccuracies.
I've been going to the White Hart for 25 years (Bette Brown ran the pub when I started going), so I can make a reasonable assessment about the place.
The pub has never sold Bass and hasn't sold Butcombe for a while. Maybe a little pricey, but what drinker is ever happy with beer prices.
It's a tenanted pub and is beer tied (this explains the beer prices and lack of choice) to a management company - unfortunately this is likely to drive the pub out of business.
The courage best has improved quite a bit in the last couple of months, Doonbar is sold and recently London Pride has been included.
Being a local, I hope this pub stays in business.
It is a typical village pub.

Nice pub, dull beer range & poor beer quality. Usual (for the area) mega dull range inc the likes of Bass, Butcombe etc. (yawwwwwwnnnnnnn)
Also very expensive too. Great setting in a small village next to church, nice stone walled lounge, great beer garden but oh so let down by the above. Far better when "Big Stan" was at the healm but they still had a boring beer selection back then to be fair.

Ever heard the story of bloke finding a wallet with 2 thousand pounds cash in it? the finder then complained about the tax the poor bloke who lost it had paid. Some people are so used to poor beers they don't know a good pint when they drink one. It's a REAL pub, not many left now.

Can't understand these comments. I know they have installed a new cellar and the lines are now cleaned every week with the beer lines cleaned each time a new barrel is put on. every drink is served in it's owne labeled glass which is also brand new and the glasses are cleaned in a new glass washer. regulars compare the food to Thornbury castle. Real log fires give the place a warm feeling. a real country pub in a lovely country village.

Crap beer, courage Best was one of the worst pints I have ever tasted in my whole life, and I've been around a bit. Nice locals in there

Nice place, more of a skittle pub. Food ok, would not rush back. Staff looked very uninterested in doing their job. Courage Best, was not a great pint, nothing else caught my eye on the real ale side.
Maybe a place to take the boys not the wife.

Front bar is good - lots of the old boys telling stories. The back room/ restaurant has no soul. The gardens are nice though so go early or go when sunny.
