The White Hart, Olveston

Front bar is good - lots of the old boys telling stories. The back room/ restaurant has no soul. The gardens are nice though so go early or go when sunny.

The White Hart, Littleton on Severn

Nice oldie worldy pub in nice surroundings but a victim of its own success. Too many customers who come because they have always done so or they heard an old story about how good it was. All present tense. Young staff who are just churning thru the customers. Average food and beer. 45 minute wait for 2 meals - we were hungry when we were at home - hense the spontaneous 'Let's go Out'. We were past caring after the wait. Average food - my wife left half of it. My sausages and mash was OK - but they miss a point here. In the Smiles days they would have had 3 different bangers all locally sourced and made a fuss of it.

Needs cleaning and decoration and above all to stop resting on its laurels. Get some older staff - someone with life and soul - we come to a pub not a fast (?) food joint.

Was very disappointed - yet again !!!

The Crown and Victoria Inn, Tintinhull

With parents in the vbillage I have known this pub for 20 years and until a couple of years ago I used to make it a monthly visit for a solitary pint, with wife/ girlfriend (never together !!) or to bring the old dears out.

But it all changed a couple of years ago with the new owner - he was a complete GIT - hated kids and noise and general merriment. I stopped going as did many others. The other pub in the village started doing well as a result.

But I am back - HURRAH !! Mike is now the owner and whilst this is a new business for him he has hawled this business back to where it should rightly be. A very personable host and very pleasant staff. Food good as well. I now don't need an excuse to see the oldies but always a pint in the C&V afterwards. God help The Lamb !!
