In a quiet corner of Scarborough this is one of the few pubs you can have chat and a decent pint in a clean well run establishment. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The beer whilst not exciting (Theakstons) was well kept, something you can't say for some of the pubs nearby. Will go again.

Cosy pub. Beer well kept. Just don't like the closed curtains after dark. Why, we wondered if it had closed down and had to peek through the door to see if anyone was there.

Spent a lovely weekend in scarborough, and on our way back from the castle popped into the Scarborough Arms for a rest( we are both pensioners ).We really enjoyed our drink.Lounge area had a welcoming feel to it,and was very bright and comfortable.Speaking to a local who comes often, told us that the pub before the new Landlord and Landlady took over recently, was in a terrible state, and lost most of the regulars.Speaking to Shirley and Norman the new Landlords, they told us its been a nightmare to clean the pub up,but told us the customers were slowly coming back.We called again on the Sunday, and had a Sunday roast, which was really good, and by the ammount of people having a meal, looks like this pub is on the way up.My wife and I will be back next time we come to Scarborough,as we made to feel very welcome.Good luck.Nice Pub.

Popped in Yesterday (4th Feb) only to be told by the barman that they had no real ale on as it's not busy enough. Wonder why!! We promptly left.

Went in Saturday afternoon and was made very welcome, had our tea there which was very nice (the homemade chicken madras was great). Saturday night karaoke was a wild fun night and was made to feel very welcome by the locals and all the staff. We will return to sample some more hospitality, keep up the good work. Martin and Andie (Selby)

We called in at easter the place has improved a lot since last time we where in scarborough (christmas) Was a bit poor on ale selection but what we had was good. The food was very good BUT it was let down by the toilets (male and female) just very dirty and needed a good scrub out before they get any worse and put people off going in.

Went in and waited 5 minutes while the barmaid took a food order (only for one guy) She then disappeared into the kitchen saying 'back in a minute'. She returned 5 minutes later and promptly started taking another guy's food order......WE LEFT and went somewhere we could get a pint. We shall not go back until we don't feel like a drink but want a meal. That will be a long time, pubs are for drinking in not stuffing your face.

Called in for the first time in a while as I had heard that the useless muppets who ran it have moved on. Much brighter and cleaner than last time we were in and the tap room especially has been transformed. Has 6 handpumps but only 1 beer was on which was Wold Tops Voluptuous Vicky, it was fine. One other pump had a turned round TT Landlord clip on it but the others were empty. Still a way to go before it gets back to where it was, but at least a start has been made. Keep it going guys.

At last...... this pub is on its way back up after the last landlord and landlady crippled it!!! A good clean up, a brilliant new landlord and landlady, gud food back on the menu and a lick of paint......... get yourselves in there!!!!!!

|
hi guys we are the new managers of this fine old public house please give us a chance to fine tune things it has been neglected for a long time and things dont happen over night
|
Well here we are again! The pub is now open again and the new managers are trying to make a go of it still needs a good clean though we shall wait and see.
|
Well what can i say ! In less than one year the new landlord ran it into the ground and it is now closed for business and rumour has it it wont be open as a pub again. SAD Very sad :-(
|
Looks like the killing process may have succeeded. We were on holiday here over half term, and at the start of the week the pub was definitely open for business- however from midweek onwards the place was in darkness with nobody home. A real shame as years ago this was a Good beer Guide pub and a thriving community local. Hopefully the closure will only be temporary.

How to kill a pub in 3 steps... 1) Put in a landlord and landlady with the personality of a breeze block. 2) Hide all the cleaning utensil so it cannot be cleaned 3) Serve food that isnt fit for a dog..
Dont visit!!!!!
