Strange pub with very strange clientelle...........which is what i love about scarborough!!!!!! pop in to see Danny Wilde....Its a must!!!!!!

I stayed at this pub last weekend not fantastic but nothing as described by baznpat or fannywilde. it was clean and tidy and all staff realy nice and polite. They warned us danny wilde was on and it would be noisey. We stayed in there all night and had a marvelous night. landlord and landladys night of but they stil came into pub. They made a point of talkin to everyone. very nice couple. They dont do bed and breakfast just beer and bed, What more can you ask for. Not expensive and for a couple of nights its a great place to stay. Thankyou very much to staff and landlord and landlady. we will be back

the durham has changed for the better since the new landlord and landlady took over a year ago there is always a friendly greeting and weekends are very busy with great acts like danny wilde and patrick dean i recomend it no real ale but whats there is a very fine pint well kept and clean with a zero tolerence on idiots

Since last post it's been done up & is a vastly improved place !!!.
Landlady very nice & pub has a really good atmosphere, with some real charactures !!.
It really has improved - try it !!

We call this place 'the dirty durham.' Last time we visited was june 2006 and they still had valentine decorations up... bar staff very friendly and not bad ale. but on this occasion an univited man sat down next to us and asked us where we were from. When we said Bradford he continued to lecture us for 30mins about how much he hated asians and what he would do to them if he came to bradford. Then i went for a piss and came back to discover he had necked my pint... Not wanting to start any trouble, and quite relieved that having no beer left was a good excuse to make our escape.. we left
