please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

First time we have been here and initial impressions were good. The beer (Harveys) was in excellent condition, although a bit expensive (£3.50) for the area. The pub was clean and comfortable with a nice log fire. We ordered food which arrived quickly but my wife's had burnt garlic which badly affected the taste and shouldn't have left the kitchen. We mentioned this to the barmaid at the end but got no real reaction. All rather disappointing but we will give them another chance sometime. We gave it 5 but it would have been more if the food had been better cooked.

Nice pub with lovely garden and Harveys on fine form. If youre a fan of pub games, ask for the Toad-In-The-Hole!

Down grade this pub as they have stopped serving straight from the barrel and gone onto hand pumps. Food prices also increased

Very impressed with this pub, friendly and helpful staff ina nice location. 3 real ales on offer, one tasted rather sour to me but the other two, Harveys and Doom Bar were excellent. Game of Toad in the Hole available in the bar also.

We use this location often as a base for walks to the nearby Arlington Reservoir or in Abbotts Wood. Have always enjoyed our lunch here : good food with a wide choice and many specials, and excellent ales and cider.
The possibility of an occasional lunchtime special price for two dining have been much enjoyed. Excellent value.

2 ales on when I visited on Sat 20th . Doom Bar and Harvey's Best.
Only had the one (Best) at 2.95 for a local beer I thought this was quite enough, would have stayed for more but not at those prices . I can get the best in London for less.

Beautiful location near to Michelham Priory and Arlington Reservoir. Loads of walks in the local woodland. This pub is perfect for the woodland location. Nice bar and associated menu - equally nice restaurant nextdoor. Lovely hearth and inglenook fireplace in winter. Bench tables out front and an enclosed garden/playground area out back next to a paddock with friendly horses. Had several good family meals here. The kids love it.

The bonus here for me is the 3-4 real ales served by gravity from the rear still-room. Badger ales predominant - can't remember the others from my last visit - need an excuse to go back and check ;-)

As someone who dines regularly in good establishments I am interested that someone needs to post such a comment anonymously, goodbye old head chef, I think you will find that a very creative, dynamic and talented new head chef is about to take this pub/restaurant to new heights.

The Head Chef leaves this weekend 2/7/06 after building this pub's reputation for popular excellent food.It will be interesting to see how the food fares thereafter without any experienced staff in the kitchen.

My family, 10 of us, visited this pub on Bank Holiday Monday and found the food and service to be 1st class, the ambience and the quality of the food were excellent. The cost was very reasonable and I would reccommend this pub every time.
We shall be revisiting this pub without doubt.
We don't come from the area (Guildford) and found the pub on this website, and found it very useful.
