Red Lion, Bitterneback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Prominently located in Bitterne shopping centre. A traditional pub that serves the older locals very well. Sign outcome says children not welcome, but on asking we were allowed in the back dining room. Typical pub/cafe food - quite edible, but don't expect posh grub. Service was a little frosty at start, but quickly warmed up. Ales are Courage Best and Directors. Nice looking sheltered beer garden at the rear. This is a busy and well run pub, though does lack a bit of character. I'm happy to come here again, though it's not a place to detour to.

My pint of Courage Best at midday was just fine, and 2.80 - a fair price.

Nice pub only been late in the evening nice friendly pub, interesting decor worth a visit.

Beer was OKish although probably a little past the sell by date. Landlord seems to want to do well but has to cater to the local clientele.
Having watched the locals inside and outside the pub I can see where my taxes go. A throughly depressing boozer.

I visited this pub whilst having my car repaired in a garage on the industrial estate opposite. Pint OK, felt a bit pecko, so i ordered some 'cheesie chips', they were truly disgusting, tasted like they'd been deep fried in old engine oil.

Very unwelcoming staff, very poor almost undrinkable wine and keggy tasting flavourless real ales, not an enjoyable evening.
|
Unmemorable pub in local shopping centre. Nice for an early-evening drink or for shoppers looking for a swift lunchtime half.
