I Don't often comment on pubs, and gave up a long time ago on The Lambs Green with regards to it poor food and dreadful service....but they did often put on a good pint.... but no more, today we were greeted by a selection of ales all drawn through sparkler/creamers, call them what you will.....but deadly to a good cask conditioned ale...............no compromise from the barmaid who has obviously been briefed that they must stay on....because obviously the customers are just idiots..............Farewell forever .... idiots.... Mr Angry of Corfe Mullen... who then a had a fab pint of Summer Lightening straight from the barrel at The Coventry Arms....happy daze .

Enjoyed our lunch for 2, good quality food and service but spolit by the starter 'King Scallops' which should have been described as Pork Belly with a pair of scallops, 2 average sized scallops just does not justify the description and is insufficient even though they were tasty. Would have scored higher if not for this disappointment.

Pubco owned place not far from Wimborne up a side road. The staff all seemed pretty bored when we arrived, with very little custom. Despite this and the number of unoccupied tables, the front of house man kept telling people they should have made reservations. The local CAMRA magazine had voted this place pub of the season for Autumn. But the range of ales on offer was fairly disappointing - Everards Tiger Triple Gold, Ringwood Best, Sharps Doom Bar & Fullers London Pride. The latter was replaced by Acorn Barnsley Bitter whilst we were there. Aspalls was the cider. Service was fairly professional. The building itself is fairly large and has character. As a freehouse, this could be so much better.

Went back again on the 30th of January 2010 (I've been a few of times in between that visit and the visit in March, probably about 5 visits in 2009)
Great food, a really good beef, mushroom and Guinness pie. Very nice scampi, fantastic open chicken pie. Dunno if the kitchen is doing pre-prepared meals or cooking to order but it's all very good.
Tonic water in G&T was fizzy, Sharp's Doombar was very well presented and the wine was declared good too.
Service with a smile. This pub has the same faces as a year ago. Same manager, same bar staff and same waiting staff. They are friendly without exception. It's dog friendly to boot and it's good value for money.
Well worth a 9. Great example of what a chain pub can do, when it's run properly.

Hard one to call this, a real mix on my only visit to date. The food is not expensive. The beer - TT Landlord - was very good. Average beer prices for region. Wine was expensive, a large glass costing more than a bottle of the same stuff (6.80 for a rather average Sancerre)
A good selection of meals but a lot of the food is obviously out of the freezer (Yorkshire puds were awful and the spuds were past their best) roast beef however, was excellent. Portions were enormous, so I'd give it a 9 for value for money.
Staff varied immensely. I suspect a lot of them were either new or just in for Mothering Sunday, so service was erratic. Starters arrived quickly, main course took three-quarters of an hour.
Parking is a bit tight, as noted elsewhere and the garden was a mecca for smokers but it's a dog-friendly pub, it's clean, it's spacious and we will be returning, to see what it's like on a 'normal' day.

Visited for Sunday lunch and can highly recommend this pub for good service (even in the garden) and glorious food. The varied menu makes it ideal for a mixed party of meat, fish and vegetarian eaters, as we were. I started with a mixed meze (prawns, salmon, warmed camembert, chorizo and salad) for 2 which was perfect for 4 of us when combined with the breaded mushrooms! I then went for the Goats cheese and nut wellington with trimmings including roast spuds, roast parsnips and Yorkshire pud - both courses were perfectly cooked and presented. My only regret is that we were too full for dessert. We noticed that the pub was popular with wheelchair users as there were no steps to negotiate and plenty of room to manoeuvre.

Six of us went today (25th Jan,2009) for a meal, using the vouchers. We booked a table by phone. Service was very prompt, and the waitresses were friendly and attentive. What can I say about the food ? - EXCELLENT is the only way I can put it, and my opinion is echoed by my fellow diners. My wife and I regularly eat at this venue and we've never had a bad experience. If I HAVE to find something to moan about, I suppose it's the size of the helping of chips they serve with my beer-batter fish......could perhaps do with more chips ! - But I had to think hard to come up with a criticism !

Went there for a lunch on Wednesday with 4 others. Bar staff and waitresses were very friendly, and food was fine for all of us. Maybe you picked a bad day, Gadgetmonsteruk!

We have been going to the Lambs Green for some time now but have had a break for a couple of months. We have always had a good meal there until yesterday. The staff behind the bar were so unfriendly in fact they had attitude. I ordered a Brie and Bacon Sandwhich. When it arrived well burnt to a crisp and the presantation was to say the least very bad.We normally stay a couple of hours but we finnished and left. We will not be going back again

This place is OK if you want a cheap and cheerful dish and if you are happy that the food arrives on your table about 2 minutes after you've ordered it

Yet another fabulous sunday lunch this weekend. Can not wait till their new menu is launched on the 1 nov with old favourite dishes like the open double breasted chicken and leek pie back. 10/10 service again.

Fabulous food. Staff are always helpful and polite. This is one of my favourite places not just in corfe mullen but in the whole of dorset! I have recommended this restaurant so many times to friends and family and they have never had a bad experience either.

This pub gets busier every time I visit, and i can see why judging by the food, they need a bigger car park, it used to be a well kept secret, but now everyone seems to know!!

Been here many times, food always fantastic and service very professional. Fish specials always popular and sometimes they run out of seabass!
|
absolutely the friendliest pub and the best food and wine. Food on massive plates - visit every evening for a week every year and it has to be this pub that brings my wife and I to Dorset every year.
|
A beautiful little pub, with the exception of the car park, sadly I dont trust other drivers not to damage my car in the 'toast rack' style car park, so have to get a space on the end! Its a great pub to visit in the winter months and grab the seats by the open fire, sadly the food is a little expensive. I.e. a portion of Chips is well over 1, for what amounts to an ash tray barely full of chips. The waitresses are always friendly, although on my last visit the bar man seemed more interested in discussing with his colleagues his night out in bournmouth when his shift ended. - not all that professional really...

We went there one Sunday afternoon lastweek - 09/06/07 - upon sitting outside the table had not been cleared - I had to ask someone to come out to clear the table - the pub was in no way busy it was around 4.30pm. We chose our food and purchased drinks. My wife ordered a vegetable lasagne, I ordered the gammon steak. The gammon steak came out to me with 2 eggs placed on top - they were raw - as in the whites of the eggs were raw - and "snotty" - I asked for the eggs to be "sealed under the grill", which was done but when they were brought out again, one of them was still raw - the other was hard boiled - I was asked if it was all OK and in true English style we both said yes - but to just look at the eggs anyone could tell they were not right - I do not agree with spending a premium amount of money to have someone cook you food who cannot even fry an egg. The bottom of the eggs were also crusty and crispy - obviously the oil was too hot - if you cannot fry and egg then you should not be working in a restaurant or pub. Also the chips were floppy and thin and there was a large amount of water on the plate from the gammon steak - I had to place a tissue on the plate to soak up the juices/wate. All in all pretty disgusting - I do not recommend this place to any one - based on this meal, they cannot complain it was busy as it was not. They have just bought a sister pub called the Bakers arms in Lytchet - I have eaten there and the eggs were the same - RAW.

Beautiful pub with a big garden overlooking Wimborne. Hard to spot from the main road.
