I share your view on real ale.
When you drink it, you think the bottom has fallen out of your world - then, the world falls out of your bottom!
Gteat pub for all sports.
Sport's TV screens, three. Real ale, none. Complete waste of space.
Heard the antelope has been sold, hopefully the new owners will do better then the old ones. Hopefully they will bring good food and ales back, because at the moment it is just a waste of a pub.

Small, charming little pub, however badly decorated in my opinion, lost its history, and warmly feeling. Staff behide the bar, were dressed scruffy, and not pleasent to myself and husband when we spoke to them. shocked to see they charge over 3.50 a pint after 11'o'clock. No wounder they are not that busy, and it is not as if the bear tasted that good anyway. This place needs some good TLC. I guess this place is for more of the younger generation but I can not see them being happy paying that much money just to drink in there after 11'o'clock, it is not like they are the only pub or hotel in Wareham.

I came across this pub while I was staying in Wareham visting my family for christmas and new year and I would have to say my expecations for this pub was very high however, that was untill I went inside. This old, Wareham pub has turned into a youth club. Im not saying there were loads of children in this pub when I went inside but the impression this place was given off it just as well as been a youth club. It also did not help that the foul lanauage the barmaid was coming out with, which may i add made me feel very uncomfortable and I was not very impressed, did give me or anyone else in that fact a welcoming feeling to the place. This old pub has no character and is a place that I would say should start over again, and then maybe I will return.

I happened apon this charming little pub whilst out in wareham earlier this year soon after it had been refurbished and could not believe my luck, I had been informed it was recently refurbished and from what our friends in wareham had told us it was long overdue. Nothing felt imposing about our surroundings at all just very clean and pleasant, we quite happily spent the afternoon in there me supping a well kept pint of ale the missus drinking a nice cold wine. The barstaff where friendly, the price of food/drinks a steal, cant wait to visit our friends in wareham again only one pub we will be using !!!

I've been into this pub in the past - about a year ago - when it was a bit like going into the local youth club. However, haven't things changed?? I've got two gripes - no real ale when I visited and loud lighting. The new tenants have fallen into the trap of TV screens and sofas (to gentrify the place) which need a hoist above them to assist customers getting out of them and get to the bar. Mind you, I know a few people who'd really like the sofas because they they'll use the excuse to get them out of buying a pint!!! Anyway, the new tenants are trying to turn the pub round, but wouldn't it be better to catch the whole population rather than just a small young group who are footy mad. A more mixed pub' community generally results in a healthier pub atmosphere and less risk of fights, etc., for which the Antelope used to be notorious. Good luck to the new tenants - you'll need it, especially when dealing with that load of sharks (the pobco) who, no doubt will try to bleed your profits dry.

As you can see from my user name I love to drink, however I could not believe my eyes when I went to this pub last friday night and saw a 16 year old boy drinking in this pub. It made me feel sick. This pub had door men on and older bar staff and none of them bothered to check. The landlord should be more careful becuase it made me leave this pub after seeing that. No wounder why this pub is having loads of fights already if they can not even stop under age children from drinking in this pub. Also there prices in the pub may seem good but that is what also causes fights becuase the landlord is being very silly charging that for alchol. GET A BETTER LANDLORD

Went to this pub while visiting wareham during the weekend. I found the staff to be rude and very unpleasent. There was a funny smell when I walked through the door, and I thought it was very poorly run. Heard that it had only been open a few weeks and they have already had loads of fights. I also heard about how they got this pub, and all I got to say on this topic is, that it is totally disgusting and sick! Horrible pub, very badly run, tasteless food, smells, and rude staff, why would any one want to go in here I do not know. I want be returing to this pub ever unless a better landlord goes in, or the true landlord of this pub which is Clive Damer.
I've been in this pub several time since it reopened. It's clean and friendly. I met some friends in there one evening and arrived first. As a women on my own I felt quite happy waiting by myself. I can.t say that about many pubs. On a less serious note they also have decent toilet roll in the ladies loos lol.
This pub use to be a clean, nice, old pub, however now you have to wear sun glasses before entering the building. They say they open 11am till 11pm everyday, however I went to the pub monday at 11am with my family and they did not even open. Also there was another fight on saturday night which made me change my mind about bringing my child to this pub for a meal. Nearly every weekend this pub has a fight....SORT IT OUT, this pub has only been open a few weeks.
Yes they did come up with their own ideas, and NO it is not a gay pub! I've seen loads of women in there and my wife and her pals go in there all the time. Another thing has changed, the bar, it used to be low and dirty and all glasses were dirty with lines from all the stains, now they are in perfect condition. I reckon all landlords are ashamed of their own pubs and feel threatened as I certainly would! I also hear the Red Lion is having it repainted and a little re-decorated because of this! All the prices are cheap! better than any other pub in Wareham. And either the Horse and Groom or the Black Bear put all there prices up due to the Antelope opening. EVERY pub will have a fight! Its only natural, at least they apologized and sorted the problem out! I will definitley spend my saturday nights in the Antelope when I'm out with the friends. I will always finish my drink! Well Done Antelope you've made a good pub in Wareham!
This pub is awful, just as well as call it a gay bar now. No women go in it, it is all DD workers. Also the grand opening of the Antelope was just a joke!!!! All they have done is painted it white and put different flooring down, and lights, whats so grand about that. Also the old sign of the Antelope brought character to this old pub. All DD has done is copied Harry's, they did not come up with any ideas of their own. They should keep to what they know best, because they dont have a clue how to run a pub because charging 2.50 a pint dont advertise drinking that well. Also they have been open for just over 2 weeks and they have already had a fight. THIS PUB IS NOW JUST AWFUL. I COULD NOT EVEN FINISH MY DRINK BECAUSE I FELT THAT UNWELCOME.LOW SCORING FROM ME.
I can't wait until tonight when its the grand opening, I wonder what it looks like, it should be amazing. I see that they have brought the old sign back the one of the actual animal not the weird one. This brings back the class of the original one! (NEW) Antelope Inn crew, I will be there to support you ALL the way tonight!

To be honest being called COMMON PEOPLE, does not make me wanna return to this pub when it re-opens. I only visited this pub a few times when it was open, but the times I did i really enjoyed myself. All the staff seemed so happy and they spoke to all the customers and made everyone feel welcome. The landlord seemed very friendly, and was also speaking to all of the customers. However being called common people by the new owners or friends of the new owners doesnt make me feel like i wanna return, because it doesnt seem that welcoming anymore.
I use to come into this pub during the weekends when Mr Damer was landlord. He was a pleasent Landlord and always had a great selection of drinks on offer. Anyone who says other wise is LIARS!!!!
The reason people are writting bad things on this website about this pub is becasue everyone in wareham knows how bad Mr Damer was treated and what happened to him was wrong. (ALSO HOW DO ANYONE KNOW DD LTD WILL BRING GOOD FOOD IT IS NOT EVEN OPEN YET....LETS JUST SAY I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK TO TRY IT)
I think this page would be a more positive place if people simply restricted themselves to reviewing the pub based on their experiences as a customer. The locals' tirades shown here (from both sides) only serve to demean themselves and devalue this website.
It is a shame that some commenters' intentions regarding this website appear to be to register for the sole purpose of arguing over this one pub. Perhaps they could take the time to review other pubs they have visited and make the site even more useful for everyone?

DD construction ltd , will bring enjoyment and well known local food. to a great pub. To the people that said that because they are rich they dont talk to common people like us, well your wrong they do talk to people like us. I bet that you know people that are rich and they dont let you know.
Just to let Clive and Debbie Damer know ( Ex landlord & Landlady of this pub ) that i am not the only pub owner in wareham supporting them and that we all think what happened to you both was AWFUL, UNFAIR AND DISGUSTING!!!!!!!! We all know how hard you both worked, and all the effort you put into this pub. WE ARE ALL SUPPORTING YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
I use to be a local of this pub when Clive Damer had it, and he was a great landlord. IT WAS NEVER DIRTY AND THE BEER AND ALES ALWAYS TASTED GREAT, just in case someone said otherwise. The pub is located in the centre of time, so it can not be missed. It has a sign hanging from the pub which you are able to see from the town cross.
No offence to anyone but who ever said Double D Ltd was rich, and was unpleasent to anyone else that was not rich, was highly mistake because they did not even buy the Antelope, they had to wait until Mr Clive Damer decided to leave, so they can not be that well off. Also the reason there are so many good comments about this pub when Mr Clive Damer had it was because no matter what any one said he done a great job, with great food on offer, and he made it warm and welcoming to all.
From reading all these comments on this page i will not return to this pub, because it seems very unpleasent. Sorry.
This pub was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!! I Cant see how any of you like it, it was horribly dirty and all the drinks tasted like crap! Anyway what is wrong with Double D Construction Ltd (NOT SITE) - look it up on google (as I did) It will hardly be a workmans pub as its open to all the public and I know lots of people who will enjoy it! How can people say they dont respect you? Coz I talk to them all, when I dont know them! They are so friendly, there is not a bad bone in their bodies They dont treat anybody differently as your 'not rich', I'm not rich and they still talk to me! I will definitly be coming back to this pub when it re-opens!
I heard as well that Double D construction site has taken over. If this is true I WILL NOT BE COMING INTO THIS PUB BECAUSE IT WILL BE AWFUL. They are so rude to everyone. Unless your rich they dont care or respect you.

I came to this pub last summer with my cousin, we has a great meal and a lovely evening. The pub had a disco on and there was a wide selection of drinks avaiable, which my cousin and I really enjoyed. The Landlord welcomed us at the door, and was very pleasent through out the afternoon and evening. My cousin and myself returned to this pub with a few of our frends to find out sadly that the landlord has left to get another pub. We also got told by a few of the wareham locals that a construction site has taken over and not to return because it wll not be the same, and that t would be a works mans pub. If this is true it is a same to lose such a friendly and fun pub. I also wish the lanlord that left all the best.
We would all like to say good bye to the landlord Clive Damer and landlady Debbie Damer. They will be missed by us all. Through out the two years Clive and Debbie has had this pub, the service has been great. The food has always been cooked to pefection and looked, and smelled great. The bar staff were always so friendly and happy to everyone who came in and the beer always tasted great. Clive and Debbie will be missed by so many people. Good luck for the furture Love The Antelope locals and friends

This pub is outstanding!!! All the staff are always well dressed and polite. The landlord Mr Damer is also very polite and socialable, and he has done an amazing job since he has been at this pub 2 turn that pub around. Its a real same he has decided to leave this pub so he can get another one, but i do wish him all the best for the future and his family. The food is amazing, you get large portions, and great quality at a good price. Lets hope the new owners do as well as Mr Damer has done and keep up the good standards that Mr Damer has made.
absolutely awful! what more should i say? this used to be an half decent premises, but the obvious lack of knowledge/care here is appalling! the staff can hardly be blamed here, as the governor is worse behind the bar than them! as far as the ales are concerned, this is definatley one to avoid. i even traded mine in for a guinness (at extra cost & with no apology) and couldn't bear to drink more than sa couple of sips of that! Total ineptitude!
surely Enterprise Inns, who I believe own the business can't be prepared to put up with this can they?! Is it just myself, or do town pubs seem to be going downhill fast? Maybe they are only interested in the 18-25 bottle of WKD type of customer nowadays, but come on, how hard is it to keep cask ale in good condition? not very, i think its all a matter of pride in your products and your standards. I therefore will not be rating this pub very generously.

went in here for a pint the other day had to leave it think the barman thought i wanted a pint of vinerger

Myself and my family stayed in wareham last year and on our week there we popped into the Antelope Inn , The pub looked very old but was having some work done inside, the barman was very miserable and hardly said a word but we had a nice pint and a lovely cooked meal. There was also a live duo playing called xcite who we really enjoyed, they made everyone that walked in the pub feel really welcome and part of the pub and and welcomed us to Wareham and hope we enjoyed our holiday, We had a good dance and really enjoyed our evening. Apart from the manners of the barman we would really reccommend this pub, the food is great value for money especially the sizzlers. We are reaturning again this year and just hope that the duo are playing again cause it was the highlight of our evening in the pub. Keep up the good work !!!

Had a lovely night out tonight with my husband at this pub. The gentlemen behide the bar, was well dressed, worked hard and spoke to my husband and myself through out the night. I have booked for my valentines meal at this pub as the menu is brillant and there is a range of food to chose from, i also booked for my valentines meal there because the pub looked lovely with all the valentine decorations up and the customer service is wounderful. I can not wait to return to this pub for my valentines meal.
This pub is a beauitful, well looked after pub. Me and my other half had a lovely meal, it was cooked perfectly, and the staff were so nice and happy that it gave the pub a nice, warm, welcome feeling to who ever came in. Both the landlord and landlady checked on me during my meal, and they were both polite and happy people, that i would return to this pub again. If i am looking for a great meal and lovely sevice from all the staff and the owners there is only one place i would go to in wareham and that would be this pub, the Antelope Inn.
I went to The Antelope Inn in Wareham with a few of my friends for a drink and a meal one afternoon, and i was very pleased about the service and the quality of the food and the lovely, well presented pub. The Landlord Mr Clive Damer was very polite and served my friends and myself very nicely, and spoke to us through out our time there. Mr Damer told me abit about the history of his pub and what events are taken place in his pub during the weekend. I was so pleased about my food and service, that my friends and myself decided to return to the Antelope Inn on Friday night for karoke with Dee Fisher, and yet again i was very pleased about the service and all the staff. Both the landlord and landlady was down stairs talking to all their customers, and the landlord even remember my friends and myself and thanked us for returning to his pub. I heard the pub does carvery on Sundays but i could not go as i had work that day, but i am planning to take a sunday off work to have a lovely carery at this amazing pub as i know i will not be disappointed with the staff or the landlords. If you are looking for a great meal, great service and a pleasent time, i recommond you go to this pub, you would not be dissapointed.
dont know what the bloke beerman is talking about went to this pub for sunday lunch carvery with my family had a wonderfull sunday lunch.landlord and staff were so friendly and helpful.large portions of food cooked to perfection.fine choice of beers would recomend it to anyone....ps if bloke behind bar does smell its probably all the hard work he has put into this place since it changed hands

the pub changed hands the other day. not sure how the new owner will get on but at least he should be better than the old one

My wife and I had a lovely meal here one dinner-time. I had John Dory , a fish I've never seen offered in a pub before. Also on the menu were venison steaks. Hope to go back one day and try one. Very polite young man behind the bar. Pub interesting mixture of olde worlde and lots of signs and advertisments.
