Cheap! and because of that it gets busy especially on the weekends when you can normally see a bit of drunken brawling. Not my sort of boozer but seems to be a bit of a destination for people who don't live in Hotwells.

the only ale being courage best and directors i opted 4 a blackthorn(of the ol'skool type!) and at 1.98 pint I couldn't complain, the cheap prices certainly keep this place busy always (and the dirty chicken shop bang next door too i imagine!)....6/10

In stark contrast to the grainge bar , as aem says spit and sawdust , without the sawdust ,and on a saturday night bit of a GRAB A GRANNY NIGHT still the only plce in bristol where you might have a chance of being chatted up when your in your mid 40's , when asked if i'd ive ever had my heart broken by a local lass yeh every day when i go to to work , and the only thing my heart is fit for is a jigsaw puzzle you could sweep it up off the floor , getting back to the pub c/b only ale , but overall still has its entertainment value

1.80 for Courage Best. Spit and sawdust pub without the sawdust. Hopeless jukebox. Friendly barman. Interesting punters.

In a perverse sort of i used to quite like this pub , but i think finally i'm beginning to wake up . In the afternoon , this pub is full of drunken , grumpy old cider heads , as said before the language is terrible , there was even excretement over the toilet floor last Saturday . the beer ranges selection is poor ,at best average ,and at worst poor , and the quality often isn't very good . On a saturday night , bargain if there isn't a fight ,and that's just the women .

A bit of a biker's pub, there's often a long row of them lined up in the road outside with their riders loitering on the pavement so they can have a smoke. Also handy for booze cruises which sometimes stop just opposite. Inside it seems almost like a country pub with plenty of wood panelling and fairy lights all over the ceiling. Some interesting characters at the bar using some pretty offensive language. The landlord clearly didn't mind this as he was conversing with them and seemed fairly disinterested in serving us. Beer was just Courage Best and Directors as I recall. A pint of Blackthorn and a Thatcher's Dry cost 3.50 which seems ridiculously cheap these days.

One of the best pubs in Bristol!
|
Unpretentious boozer unaffected by the gentrification of the Hotwells/harbourside area. Cheap, unsalubrious but bluffly welcoming & they sell cider in a can, City fans. Great place for drinking, not schmoozing.
|
A welcome rebust , that brings you back to reality , from the overcivillised grain barge . probably the cheapest pub in Bristol , unadveventurous choice of drinks , but you can't have everything , heaving most weekends especially bank holiday sunday afternoons .a great way of saving money .

this is a proper job boozer! nice decor, friendly locals, huge food menu (pickled eggs AND pickled onions), and Thatchers is just 1.40 a pint. surely the best pub in the West Country? Also the venue for the infamous annual 'Easter Saturday Mardyke Challenge.'

1.72 for Fosters, lacking in real ale but @ that price 4 lager dont mint havin a cheeky couple here, 6/10

Where else can you buy 3 pints of cider and get change from a fiver? As to be expected with this paper thin profit-margin, it's heaving and could do with a quick scrub. Surprising mix of customers, from old men in suits and poppies, to big lads in football shirts, to students spending their soap money on beer. Pretty good and friendly.

Incredibly cheap pub on the Hotwell Road. Mixture of locals, builders and students with never any hint of trouble. Quirky decor and great atmosphere. Used to have a pool table but it's gone now. Natch in cans and thatchers and 'thorn on tap for the ciderheads! A no nonsense, top boozer.
