Princess Of Wales, Bedminsterback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
A popular pub tucked away in a side street just off of West Street, but far busier than many of the pubs on the main road. There is a patio area at the front of the pub which has an awning covering the right hand part of it to keep out any inclement weather.
Inside, its a single room U-shape bar and in keeping with its name is adorned with several photographs of Lady Diana. There were several thin black beams on the ceiling, although this is not a traditional olde worlde pub, and they looked a little out of place. There was red velvet bench seating on the left hand leg of the U together with a selection of chairs and tables elsewhere and some high stools at the bar. A notice listed all the forthcoming bands that were appearing and this appears to be a regular Saturday night fixture.
There was another small courtyard at the back of the pub, although Im not sure if this was in use. There were a couple of small TVs on the wall at the front of the pub, and a plasma on the rear wall. A large Alsatian was wandering around, and whilst he seemed friendly enough, may put off some people who are not keen on dogs.
Beers on tap were Courage Best and Cheddar Gorge Best. This was served in a Bath Ales glass, so presumably they also carry some of their range at times. The solitary cider was Blackthorn.

Poor, very poor.
Crap choice of beers and unpleasant atmos.

Agree with the previous post stepping in here is like stepping back in time. The pint of Cheddar was fine though, 6/10

Really odd pub. The Diana Princess of Wales pictures make you feel you have stepped back in time. Courage beer was ok, but limited choice. Unlikely to revist in a hurry.

If you enjoy being stared at, then this is a good pub to visit. Very much a locals' venue - wouldn't go again!

I thought this pub was a very friendly locals pub, with entertainment every weekend which is a real effort as most public houses do not even put on entertainment.
with a selection of a couple of real ale beers. Also shows all live sports with a buzzing atmosphere when a big game is on with bar snacks sometimes provided.
This pub also caters for smokers with covered areas and 2 big outdoor heaters.......which is handy for these winter nights.
Alan and Sue would welcome all new customers.....its worth popping in for a drink

This is a cluttered pub and seems as though it's got two many tables in it. The regulars seem a tad unwelcoming, but it is worth seeking out if you like a quiet pint. Small selection of ales are present, but if you are scared of dogs be warned as a large alsation type wanders around. It is a friendly dog though and has a fond liking by the regulars. There is a small outside seating area at the front which looks into the nearby estate which is a relativly pleasant area.

Usually has at least 3 different Wickwar ales available, although doesn't seem to have a big real ale clientele. Hasn't benefited from frequent change in management over the last few years and competition from Wetherspoons down the road. Worth seeking out.
