Cozy one-size-fits-all pub.

This is one of those places where those from all walks of life gather together to drink. Depending on when you go, you'll find grizzled old men, hippies, families, teens, sports fans, couples, etc. If you are intolerant of any of those groups, The Farm probably isn't for you.

Excellent food, fireplace & woodburning oven, leather sofas, free wi-fi (for real, unlike many pubs that advertise it -- I'm using it as I write this), relaxed enough atmosphere you can hang around for several hours. I can't comment on the ales, being a cider fan... but they generally have at least one scrumpy and a sparkling on draught.

Note that the (widescreen) TV is usually off (otherwise I wouldn't come here), but I gather it's on for big sporting events when people want it. I'm docking the pub one point for having a TV at all, though.

This is a great community pub situated right next to the city farm. Its been made a bit more colourful since the picture above was taken, with a full size farm themed mural covering the whole pub. There was an eclectic mix of clientele so I can see what some other posters are referring to, but they all seemed friendly enough. In fact, even though I dont consider myself the trendy, veggie, left-wing Venue type and have always tended towards traditional country inns rather than inner city pubs, I actually preferred the atmosphere in here to that of the Plume of Feathers at Rickford where I was last night. But then I was here on a Saturday lunch time, maybe its different late at night.
Its a reasonable sized pubs with bars on two different levels, and a large outside seating area with plenty of benches and tables. Theres a small food menu, and portions looked generous although we didnt eat ourselves.
There seems to be a wide range of interests for everyone, with posters and flyers about various bands, tai chi classes and various other community events. The pub also has its own film club on a Sunday evening.
Beers on tap were Bath Ales Jem, Doom Bar and Gurt Lush. Ciders were Stowford Press and Thatchers Gold, plus Westons Old Rosie straight out of a box behind the bar.

Quinno has said it all below.

The ale was good though (Doombar,Gem and Archers Golden) on my recent visit. BR29975 barwoman. WAHAY.

Has a lot of the ingredients to be a great pub (location, couple of decent ales on, nice outside area) but falls a bit short - namely because of the customers...weekend hippies and drippy floaty-skirted teenagers talking loudly about how politically/ecologically sound they are. Can see why Venue like the place.

My bias, but there you go.

Worth checking out, but the best pub in Bristol? Not quite!

Situated in the vale of St Werburghs at the foot of urban allotments and adjacent to the city farm, The Farm pub is frequently referred to as the best pub in Bristol by the city's long-running what's on magazine Venue.
