children and pubs do NOT mix, if it was my pub they wouldn't be there at all

i am with the pub on this one, i have never been to a pub that allows children in the evening, it's a well known fact. you should know this by now. how was the bar person supposed to know you had children if they were already sat in the garden when you ordered your drinks.

Pubs are for adults only my arse.
Some pubs market themselves as family friendly but I do agree there has to be a cut off point as kids should not be in pubs at 11 in the evening.
Pubs are the centre of the English lifestyle and kids are more laid back about drinking if they grow up with it than if it's a right of passage for adults only.
Anyway, the pub, Used it on and off since the days of Knowles bakery next door, good pub, still is. Not run by people that would knowingly rip you off but I agree that a few signs around would avoid any confusion.

It's a ruling which virtually every pub in the land has to abide by regarding children, part of 99.9 of all licences. I don't know of any pub that allows children in until closing.

Thank you for your honest and rapid response. However, you surely can't expect customers to know the conditions on your licence - may I suggest a sign at both the garden and front entrances to that effect - I'm sure it'll avoid ill feeling all round and go some way to improve any customer relationships - a few moments thought can go a long way.

In reply to post about children. The premises licence at Ye Olde House at Home states that "children are not allowed on the premises after 20.00hours" So you can see that it is not that children are not welcome, we are just complying with the conditions stated on our premises licence. Also sometimes it is very hard to inform customers of this when the drinks are brought before the children arrive!

I was here the other Sunday - a beautiful early Summer's evening with my partner and members of his family (including three children: aged 9yrs, 10yrs and 16 months). We came here with this in mind, a pub with a garden for the children. But alas, all was not well. After safely finding ourselves a seat in the garden, I proceeded to spend 30 at the bar. On the second beer run, and spending a further 7, I was told that the children would not be weclome after 8pm - it was now 7.30pm. When I enquired as to the reason, I was told 'licencing laws require it'. Shame they couldn't have told me this earlier - but hey, they wouldn't have had my 37 in their till - avoid if you have kids!!! Other than that, it appeared to be a rather nice little pub but we didn't (couldn't!!!) stay long enought to find out. Shan't go there again - score is minus 3 stars for each of the evicted children - shame on you!!

A very warm and friendly pub with two bars one more lively than the sallon bar. A spacious non smoking conservatory with a enclosed garden. Themed evening's including new years eve and christmas parties. Summer parties bring variety with a themed summer BBQ and party evening. Traditional pub food served daily mon to sat, although the menu is quite varied and caters for all.

Nice and friendly "Country Pub" within a town. Good food served at lunchtimes Mon-Sat. Walled rear garden is a sun trap in the summer. Renowned for summer, Christmas and New Year parties.
