Very pleasant pub right in the heart of Poets' Corner. Good range of beer, really tasty food, friendly staff. What's not to like?

Lovely pub on the corner. Very clean and fresh. Lovely food and drink. Nice and near station.

Massively out of date info, now the George Payne. Completely refurbished, four excellent ales, good pub food menu (I didn't eat there but a trusted mate does and she recommended it), and clearly popular with locals. "Family-friendly" and TV screens, neither of which I like, but there's a part of the pub where you can escape all that. Definitely worth a visit.

OK local's pub with 4 real ales and a cider.

It's been completly done out and renamed The George Payne. I have not been in but looks a lot tidier than it used do.

I agree with regg3y - but this requires an update after nearly 1.5 years.
I like a pub to be a old school pub: just beer, darts, pool and bar snacks.
But with another the new management in nearly 2 years, this pub has gone from bad to worse: the beer (if any indeed) is absolutely below standard (do not even try the Amstel), so is the "food"- "things" that don't deserve to be called sandwich. The landlady is in a continously foul mood and definitely not friendly.
Most of the friendly regulars have gone elsewhere; so did I.
Shame, this used to be a very nice pub indeed...!

Harveys on tap (no surprises there!). Front room is dominated by pool tables, jukebox and quiz machine, and the rear by an impressive darts set up. Quite a big yard area for smokers which might catch a decent bit of sun when summer comes round.
The place has some honesty and integrity about it- an old school boozer for blokes. If you're looking for great ales and food this probably isn't the place for you..

Since Neil & Jean have left, The Kendal has gone down hill. Beer (if there is any) is below standard and most of the regulars have gone elsewhere.

They are just in the process of decorating and the place looks a lot better (it is a nice size/shape.layout with orgeous high ceilings). One side of the pub has the Bar billiards and the other has 3 (I think) pool/snooker tables; pool side is more popular with the locals than the bar billiards side.

Basic, locals style pub, always at least 1 real ale and good selection of keg beers and draft lagers. 2 pool tables and bar billiards. Regular competitions and darts teams. Friendly Landlord Neil and his wife Jean will nearly allways make you a sandwich. Good free nick-nacks on Sundays.
