Refurbished since I last visited years ago, has barstools and 3 real ales and 1 cider on the handles. Open all day, sofas or chairs available too with a conservatory and gardens. Food prices reasonable but I didn't try any. Worth another visit

The pub came highly recommended and looks nice from the outside but the bar staff were slow, I had Addlestones cider which wasn't that nice when others nearby serve the excellent Stowford Press. Not bad but would choose it over the King's Arms.

I am most surprised by some of the previous reviews. Having just had a lovely time at The Mill Arms. The staff, in particular, the owner, were most welcoming and friendly. The service was exceptional. The food was fantastic, in fact I want to go back right now! We felt thoroughly looked after and relaxed. Definitely worth going!

Well I've met some strange licensees in my time, but this lady tops them all. We ordered a couple of ales at the bar, Ringwood as I remember, we were the accosted by the landlady with the usual 'will you be eating with us today'? When my mate replied 'sorry, no' her attitude instantly changed. I have never met such a rude Australian (but she may have been a New Zealander) in my life!! Beer was good, welcome was extremely frosty. Avoid at all costs!!!

Don't even bother with this one.
Terrible food - this place shouldn't be allowed to charge for the food they serve. Belly of pork didn't really feature pork, just belly. Gnocchi with broad beans and butternut squash was simply a plate of supermarket gnocchi swimming in cream. We were seated in the dingy conservatory where I suppose a saving grace was that the lighting was so poor we couldn't see the atrocious food we were eating. After feeding back our dissatisfaction to the supervisor at the end, she proclaimed to have taken 10% off our bill as a way of compensation, which, according to her, equated to the price of a pint of beer: the final bill was �75, how much does that make a pint of beer?!
This is the morning after and I'm still angry.

This pub is mainly concerned with the food trade. However it had a range of four real ales on sale.
Lunch was good and not over priced for Hampshire. The food was well cooked and presented.
A good stop for when visiting the nearby National Trust gardens at Mottisfont Abbey.

Popped in for a quick one at the end of a walk on a saturday afternoon, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.

I was shocked to read the review below about having a bad xmas experience at the Mill. I too was sat in the conservatory but thought the temperature was fine, especially with the amount of people and festivities going on around me. I have also never found the landlord anything less than accommodating as well as the entire bar staff, who always seem happy to pursue any request and offer great and honest advice on the food and drink. I've been to the Mill many times across the years and think that this set of management has made the most out of the pub. Although the food sometimes seems pricey, it only reflects the prices charged at the surrounding pubs. All in all, I think the Mill has a great atmosphere, great staff and a great ideas to get the punters in!

Frankly an awful experience. We sat in the cold conservatory eating our Christmas meal and when mentioned that the heating was on the low side were told that the electricity bill was "over �1,000 a month" and that we were not in a position to comment. I subsequently wrote to the landlord and received similar comments. SHould this pub change hands it may be worth visiting, for now though I'd advise all to take their custom elsewhere.

Excellent pub serving terrific, restaurant standard food with well kept beer. Nice garden as well although not large.

I have visited the Mill Arms before about 2 years ago with some friends and we had a brilliant time! The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and buzzing, and the staff were very friendly and chatty. The pub was full of locals, and staff that had obviously been working earlier in the day, who were very sociable with us and I have to admit we ended up missing the train home because we were having great fun chatting and drinking with them! We could have quite happily stayed there all night!
I randomly decided to go there again to check out how it had changed with my family in late November 2006, but was however disappointed to see that it had taken over new ownership, although it had needed a lick of paint. There wasn't so much of a warm "country pub" atmosphere anymore - it kind of seemed like it was trying too much to be posh which of course it can't be, being a country pub! And on striking up conversation with one of the waitresses, they were promptly shifted on by I assume the manageress, for chatting too much.
The staff however were still very friendly and great at their jobs, being well attentive and smiley.
The food has got quite a bit better aswell, although the portion sizes are a bit on the small side and meals more expensive than you would expect, especially compared to when I came before. Maybe trying to be a little too 'un-pubby' and more of a restaurant? However, we did still enjoy our meal, but it just didn't push our right buttons.

An excellent pub. Staff are polite and attentive without going "o.t.t.". Good menu, well presented food. Pleasant location. Proximity to Dunbridge Station (1 minute!) on Great Western Southampton - Salisbury - Bath - Bristol route has to be emphasised. You can have a few drinks and have no worries about being "pulled over" by the constabulary.
Well worth a visit.

Very nice pub in pretty location. Friendly staff and good beer. It has a beer festival in late summer, i think, no doubt worth visiting

Visited Sunday 30th March 2005.
We have 3 chldren, 8yrs, 4yrs and 7 months, booking was at short notice and the telephone enquiry was well received with staff offering to move tables in the bar area to accomodate us all.
On arrival beautiful warm proper pub smelling of wood smoke form the fire not dope smoke from the chavs.
Staff very friendly and helpful offered baby seat and were attentive.
Superb advice on beer from barstaff who were obviously knowledgable, beer very well kept, good range of real ales well kept.
Food superb and very reasonable price, staff couldn't do enough and were attentive without being overbearing.
My wife likes it so much that we'll be back.

Lamentably it's taken me the best part of an hour to remember the name of this wonderful place so my Alzheimers must have progressed beyond early stage. Superb country pub with a great range of real ales and a terrific menu. Weather permitting there is a very pleasant beer garden and it's all right next to Dunbridge railway station. What more can you want? Check it out before Dunbridge station becomes a victim of the next round of cuts.
