A few more ales on this time - though none really out of the ordinary. The Jennings Cumberland was okay.

This is the pub nearest to the football ground so even though it wasn't on my list it was rude not to have a pint here as I was going to the match anyway. I found out before entering that its owned by the football club, that made me want to have a pint here even more.
Lovely 1 bar pub that has service from either side of the bar . 4 pumps offering 4 different ales, I went for a pint of Hartley's Cumbria Way. A bit creamy but more than drinkable and again another pint in Accrington for less than £3.00! This is heaven for a cockney!
Busy with football fans but everyone was well behaved.
Friendly and extremely quick attentive bar staff is exactly what you want in a football pub and that's exactly what you get at the Crown.
Cracking pub and worthy of a stop for home and away fans.

It's a perfectly good, very friendly and efficient pub on non-match days too (as are quite a few near football grounds, notably The Strawberry in Newcastle).

A lot of places could learn with how to deal with busy spells from here. Was served quickly despite it being three deep at the bar. They now have proper ales but only Bombardier and another 'standard' and as no one appeared to be drinking any I stuck to the Kronenbourg. Pie sales have now been moved to a doorway in the back room but at £2 are still value for money when you can pay more than that for a 'measure' of nuts from a jar behind the bar in a London pub.

Swift service at busy times and no proper ale so had a pint of Kronenbourg. Handy for the Stanley. Pies looked nice but I'd already scoffed beforehand.

No hand pumps so I made do with Newcastle Brown in bottles.
Smashing pre match atmosphere with both sets of fans mixing hassle free. It was very busy but there was plenty of staff on so service was good. The football club own the pub, so it's in their own interest to sell!
Lots of good old memoribilia on show of old Stanley as well as souvenirs of opposition clubs in the back section.
Another nice feature was an oven full of pies. What more could a man want? - OK maybe a hand pump would round it off perfectly!
Would definitely use again but only on a matchday.

No handpumps at all anymore - real ale drinkers should try the Grey Horse when visiting Accrington Stanley.

Friendly ale house to frequent for both a pre and post-match drink if visiting Accrington Stanley, which is no more than a minute's walk from here.
Small selection of real ales, convivial atmosphere and during the summer months there is a Shed Bar round the back.
