The Dirty Duck Ale House is a nice pub near the train station and the seaside in Holywood. Food seems to be the big thing here, but I had already eaten, so I did not eat anything. 3 cask ales were on when I was there, Sharp’s Atlantic was a new tick for me. Nice patio outside.

It is a bit cramped and the seating a bit uncomfortable. Ale wasn't too greta either had a pint of Hilden No.4 here which was not a patch on the same brew served at the John Hewitt a bit later.

Went here for Sunday lunch (19/02/12). The downstairs portion of the pub was really cramped, not helped by pushchairs being left all over the place. Being a Sunday it was really busy, but the staff coped well. Our food order only took about five minutes to arrive which was really good. Three ales on, the Hilden Dirty Duck and two Inveralmond Beers, Duncans IPA & Burns Ale, all well kept.

Two floor bar overlooking Belfast Lough. The downstairs bar seemed more geared for drinkers, whilst the upstairs bar is more of a restaurant. Nevertheless, all tables on both floors were set out for diners and there was an overwhelming smell of fish when we entered. 3 real ales were on - Hilden Molly Malone and Tom Woods Harvest Bitter & Shepherd's Delight. An ale festival is to be held in August, featuring 25 British beers.

Very warm and welcoming with open fires on a wet October afternoon. 4 cask conditioned beers, one from Hilden and three English ones. Tried the 'own label' Hilden, very good. Food looked very good too, but more restaurant quality [and prices] than normal pub food.

I found the service in the afternoon was far better than the evening. Once you have paid for a meal, no more waiter service at table. Staff very rude after they got our money. We will not be back and will not recommend. Poor Show.

I visited the restaurant in this pub with my family only to be told they don't allow children in the restaurant on Fridays or Saturdays. They also do not have disabled access. We certainly will not be returning. It takes more than a lovely location to make a good pub/restaurant.

Normally 4 proper ales. Good craic and food. Music nights too.
