Has been closed for several months but apparently this is for refurbishment and the place will eventually reopen. Some external work has been carried out with modern signage etc. removed and the carved name of former owners Patens exposed. There has been no sign of further progress for some time, though.

Was in here the other evening before meeting some workmates. Probably more for the younger set, lots of drink offers by the look of it. Beer was in good nick though.

Always busy and lively. Popular with younger clientele and feels more like a wine bar than a pub. However they usually have a couple of real ales available and kept in good condition. A popular place to eat for many. I like it here but after a couple I feel the need to move on to somewhere a little less frantic.

Fantastic pub! Great lunch deal, only 5 for a meal and a drink! We went mid week and it was really busy with a great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly. Evenings, especially weekends its a very lively fun place to be. Brilliant

I can never find the toilets in this place. Very popular especially in the summer when punters spill onto the street.

This pub does get quite busy, especially at the weekends. But try not to let that put you off. They have quite a good range of beer. Normally there are a few guest ales. The prices are OK, not as good value as St Mary's Vault around the corner.

Just fall out of the Crown Hotel & you are there. Still a great place for food & beer. Can get crowded.

Great now they have changed the lurid yellow colour scheme. Excellent Beer and even a Happy Hour I think 12 - 14 everyday. Very friendly staff busy when rugby on tv. Interesting food.

Smartly done up pub with leather sofas and wooden flooring. Good real ale selection and free snacks on bar Sunday lunch (including Pork Pie)
