Waterguard, Cardiffback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Since about June last year the Waterguard introduced us to a new couple. Who im pleased to say are still with us and doing a fantastic job at this amazing venue. The quality of beer has been very consistant, and to a good quality standard. The brewery introduced a new menu not too long ago, which is a huge improvement on the previous one. ''I LOVE THE SPICY BEAN BURGER'' Although the pub is still very quiet in the winter, this cannot be helped as nobody seems to venture out in the cold around the bay. I can highly recommend the Waterguard.. Whether you want a quiet pint in the winter, or fancy a more livelier visit in the summer. By far the best pub in Cardiff Bay. Keep up the good work at the Waterguard. Credit to managers and Staff.

I have been going to The Waterguard for quiet a few years it is lovely building with good beer the only problem is that it seems to have a large turnover of managers! The couple who came in from March 2010 where the best couple the pub have had the pub had a friendly atmosphere and character with sporting memorabillia which was mostly welsh it gave interest to the place and made the place cosy. Since the couple have gone in February the place have gone through quite a few managers and is not very stable I have been there twice and the place have gone down hill no food and the place is not very clean there seems to be chaos nobody seems to know what they are doing this is a great dissapointment bring back the welsh couple I say!!!!

Great place in the summer, often overlooked as it looks nothing like a pub. Both drinks and food are good but on the pricey side. Major problem for me is it's quite draughty in the Winter and never really feels cosy.

Superb pub. Never too busy and it's Sam Smiths, what could possibly go wrong?

This a real beauty. Overlooked by most Bay visitors, it is something of peaceful haven. Interesting range of drinks, with the Wheat Beer being my fave. About an acre of 'beer garden' - ok, public picnic area (but near enough to get a resh pint to go with your sarnies). Do yourself a favour, and pay a visit.

Recently visited, and certainly enjoyed the experience. A very unusual place, being an mix of old, and stunningly modern. The pub is based around the old harbour master's building, beautiful, crennelated structure. Connected to which, is a modern stone, steel and glass extension... I works!! Inside, wood, bold colours combine to suggest almost an art-deco design. Plenty of outside space for looking over the stunning Cardiff Bay, and enjoying a great pint of Samuel Smiths. The food was also really enjoyable, I had mussels cooked in their wheat beer, very tasty!! And my friends had Lamb burgers, really really good! Pay the place a visit!

What can I say, superb!! They are also dog friendly!! I love spending a lazy Sunday afternoon in here, chilling out on a sofa with one of my mutts.
The beer is exceptional too, I would heartily recommend the draught wheat beer, really really top notch stuff!!!
Staff are very friendly!!!!!!!!!!

have been dragged here many times, on the plus side it is nice to sit outside in the summer, and the pills they have on tap is worth a try, and the bar staff are friendly however it is pricey and lacks the comfy pub feel probably one of the better places to drink in the bay but glad its not my local pub have a pint of pills then go elsewhere is my suggestion

Somewhere very different. In converted old docks building close to historic Norwegian church and Christian Lightship. Waterguard is in an attractive stone building all on its own, sometimes has a sign saying 'Yes it is a pub'! Rooms done in differing styles, one is like an old ocean liner. Wheat beer on tap and some excellent Samuel Smith's bottled beers available. One minus, though: Expensive! Well worth stopping for one if you're walking the Bay, though.
