The movie - Kingsman: The Secret Service - was partly filmed in this pub.

A nice locals' pub which has survived the hipsterification of this area. Traditional decor and Harveys Best ensure a pleasant evening.
|
I agree with the last comment.
Very pleasant, relaxed, peaceable and friendly atmosphere, enhanced by candlelight.
There were four real ales, the Harvey's was fine.

This pub seems to have had a refurb, and a really excellent one.
The interior is really lovely, with original wood panelling, nice furniture, nice lighting, and the Black Prince's coat of arms over the picture rail.
The clientele seem to be calm, ordinary locals. There are plasma TVs here and there but surprisingly unintrusive.
Several choices of ale - Harveys and so on.
Fantastic - my new favourite Kenningon/Lambeth pub.

Nice pub which was very clean and welcoming on a crawl round the area, can't remember what beer I had in here (was a long night) but it was well kept.
Shows sport on several TV's and the food looked good, the barstaff were polite and pleasant and the pub had a good atmosphere to it.

A lovely, lovely pub. Beautifully situated and ideal for lovers of smoking to partake in a nice area outside.
|
Recently went here after avoiding it for years. Last time I went in around 2006 it was a hostile place with rubbish beer, where the regulars would Go silent and was very awkward.
The place is now completely different - good range of ales, welcoming staff and a cute little smoking terrace round the back. Will definitely be coming back!

The Black Prince used to be a warm, welcoming pub but it seems to have lost its sparkle since the young lad working behind the bar became more present. His attitude is sneaky, arrogant and unpleasant. He behaves as if he is the owner and in a negative way. I love the owners and all the other girls working behind the bar. They are always smiling, pleasant and willing to serve. I'm afraid I, some of my friends and acquaintances are now avoiding the Back Prince when the young lad is working behind the bar. What happened to the young Scottish lad ? He was so lovely. Sure a shame.

Been using The Black Prince "on and off" for more than a decade prior to it's new ownership. The new owners are very friendly, welcoming & are making their presences felt most of the time, at or behind the bar. The decoration is tasteful. The interior is clean. The secret garden BEAUTIFUL and bathed with hours of sunshine on good weather days. The beers haven't got the bad taste of badly maintained pipes as some other pubs do. The food is quality & affordable, my favorite being their home made pies. The Black Prince has become my favorite pub in Kennington for the past year TODAY. Well done Mark, Ross & Anna. Carry on the good job & smilling.

Am a fan of this places sister pub in Holborn(The Ship) but only recently found this places was owned by the same people. Another gem. Clean friendly pub & a cracking chatty landlord. Its kind of got a front living room feel to it, the beer is great & the food quality standard fayre. Its also got big screens for the sport too and added bonus. Another great pub & i hope to become a regular here too.Love it

Don't usually eat in pubs, so no idea about the food, but the beer is good (if, as someone said, a bit to cold for my taste). The staff are friendly and welcoming, but sometimes a bit disorganised when things get busy. If you're lucky, you might see Dave Ball out of Soft Cell having a quick pint. If so, don't ask him about the b-side of Tainted Love...

The Saturday 2 for 10 burger deal is amazing - best burgers in London!
|
Known this pub for decades but never used it because it looked a bit of a tatty old dump. But I used it following the reccommendation of a friend on Thurday evening, and I was pleasantly surprised. Had a nice pint of John Smiths and a bottle of Prosecco with 2 burger meals with the wife.
Don't know what it was like previously, but it clearly had a revamp, and was very pleasantly decorated, and retained a good traditional pub atmosphere that often gets lost with modern revamps.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definately use it again, most likely for Sunday roast.
Pleased to have discovered this pub for what it is now, which has been brought up to a decent standard in a local area where pubs have only changed for the worse. I hope to bring my camera and submit some images very soon.

Good solid boozer, was quiet when I visited on a Wednesday afternoon but I can imagine it's a friendly locals pub. Only real criticism was that the real ale ( Young's London Gold ) was far too cold.
|
Great little boozer with a nice rear garden and a good looking menu, beer was good (bombadier, deuchars ipa, and 2 youngs bitters)
best thing is how they've refurbished it without making it look new, corporate or overly gastro
|
What an amazing transformation!! It's about time Kennington had a decent, traditional boozer like this. Four outstanding real ales, I tried them all!! This pub is a much welcomed addition to the local scene.
|
This pub is excellent - a real improvement on what it was before. Very classy and very friendly bar staff. Kennington has been crying out for a bar like this for a while. Looking forward to the food.
|
Popped in last night to see the refurb and was amazed ! It has been brought back to look like a real traditional pub with friendly staff and well kept real ales.I hear the kitchen will be open next week,so will be back to try a roast lunch on Sunday.Just the sort of Pub the area needs.

The Black Prince has just re-opened after being completely refurbished. The new management and staff are very friendly and they are planning on doing food soon. It has been done up in a traditional style and has the potential to be a great new local. It definitely fills a gap in Kennington between the expensive gastro pub (The White Hart) and the quite scruffy and dirty Dog House (which has awful food) so it will definitely be my new local!
|
Well I went in the other day and paid 3.20 for a pint of Deuchars! This is more expensive than a pub in a mews in Belgravia where i'd just been. Ridiculous prices . Two large screens showing ,yes, you've guessed it, football. At those prices I won't be back.
|
Sign saying "Under new management, The Black Prince Ale House will reopen in early november". Looking forward to seeing what happens...
|
Great South London booser - nothing fancy - but does what it says on the tin.
|
this is one of, the nicestt bars around this arae
|
