Due to re-open this weekend as the Bavarian bierkeller where you can enjoy the authentic bierkeller experience. I am not sure how far the authenticity will be extended, but with the number of I.S. terorist attacks in recent weeks in Bavaria itself, it might be a good idea to give this place a miss for a while.
If you still want to go you can book a table by calling the "Bavarian booking team".
N.B. German NOT spoken (not that authentic then).

Closed down- agree that many who frequented there will disperse elsewhere. Taunton used to have enough pubs to cater to all types of clientele but it seems that everyone is being gradually forced to drink together with people they would not generally want to be around.

The place looked closed down when I went past this evening. No great loss of course except one wonders where all the idiots and chavs the place seemed to attrect will go now.

Piat d'or?
The food is seriously disgusting, but I guess anyone who likes piat D'or might also enjoy the food.
It might help if they made some effort to clean the place each morning instead of leaving all of the detritus from the previous evening's "chav fest" behind.
Not only are the custoners "wetherspoon rejects", but so too are the staff from what I saw.

A bit quiet but the staff are fun and friendly. Good food at lunchtime and you can get a bottle of Piat Dor wine for under a fiver. Not bad.

No, no and thrice no! How can it be possible for muppets that are unable to string together and verbally deliver a simple sentence are still permitted to imbibe alchohol! The government needs to do something about places like this. You can keep your nasty beer, insipid background pop music, Elizabeth Duke trinketry and your teenage acne. I'm off!

When this pub was called the toad at the warehouse, it became known by those who like their fruit to be under ripe, as the toad at the whore house. They've changed the name but little else is different.

Leopard covered seats and an almost exotic type furnishing, not really Taunton, but different anyhow. Like the beer "Staropramen" rocks!! Prices have gone up since Toad, so improved type of punters. Sunday night Karaoke is wicked.

Went to 24 pubs in Taunton back in May 2005. Went to this pub at about 7pm and I have to say it was the worst pub that I went to on that day. Bloke behind the bar was very arrogant and rude by the fact that we came from Devon. There are a lot better pubs in Taunton.
