As one previous punter says, quite middle of the road. The ale selection is interesting and peppered with local offerings but the music was wallpaper jazz-funk played a little too loud and the clientele a little too cool for school in a monied way, unusual for the area.

It's a few years since I've been here. It's got better: better music, friendlier bar staff - a proper pub. 3 real ales which could have been a bit better kept. If they'd been in tip top condition this would have top marks.

Middle of the road for me. The pub was rather packed to the point where you couldn't maneuver (im sure its popular with its regulars but on this occasion think it was more people standing in awkward spots). Toliets dark with broken seat (nature called in that way), and person working thought it was more important to down a shot with his at the bar mate than serve the next customer (id hate to be a killjoy but my job always demands a customer comes first so sod it ill make a point of it here) Stood outside on a summers day which is quaint though im suer makes a lot of noise from whoevers living down that road (if its students they are probably living in the pub making all the racket anyway)

Decent back street boozer. Stand outside sink a Guinness and watch people fall off their bike after too many ciders.
Well worth a visit.

Nice place, good beer, but why the change of name?
|
Nice pub went there on sat night and was pleasently dead in there. lovely to be able to sit outside on the pavement. just had very relaxed feel to it.
|
Lovely place. I went every night for 4 days. The music and the Harveys beer were excellent.

Now winter has gone and the fire is no longer needed this place is great. Get there early to get a seat, only problem is limited seating but if you get one it's lovely.
|
now it's been redone as Foundry it has alovley relaxing atmosphere, open fire that kept us more than entertained with its smoke-producing properties and bless the bar staff who did their best to keep it going! good comfy chairs and nice beer. It's a great place to bring visitors to.

Great find (yep, it is now called The Foundry). Popped in early afternoon yesterday after some post Christmas shopping and was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly barman, good selection of real ales well kept and some tasty pizzas too. Also good tunes on the stereo! Had a very relaxing drink and pizza and couldn't fault the place. Will look forward to revisiting one evening when I can sample more of teh ales on offer and soak in the atmosphere.

Now the Foundry, lovely little pub with friendly atmosphere and well kept Harveys and TT Landlord, one of favourites.
|
This is now the Foundry, and a very nice pub it is too. I would recommend for Friday night drinks with an eclectic, friendly crowd and happy, fast wrokign staff!
|
Isn't this pub now called the Foundry? I went there yesterday and it was much better than the first couple of reviews.
|
Is this the same pub I spent a lovely, sunny, lazy Sunday afternoon in last week? The very bored staff were lovely and chatty, the atmosphere, though quiet, was typical Brighton and very chilled, and we will definitely come here when we next come to Brighton.

Not impressed. Just had that feel about it, you know that - I'll just have the one and move on somewhere else - feel. Barman charged me 1 more for the same drink than he charged one of the locals but I didn't bother saying anything. Don't think you would find me there on a Friday / Saturday night.

This place was bad when it was packed with postmen from over the road. They've mostly gone now, but it's got even worse! Poor beer, dirt everywhere and Chavs on the pool table. Nasty.
