Usual traditional Sam Smith's house, with OBB on handpull. Bar staff and customers were friendly. The interior layout has a number of rooms. There is an enclosed yard at the rear. Gents toilets are also outside. If you like Sam Smith's pubs, you'll enjoy it here.

A proper pub. Sam Smith owned so you know what you're getting. Has a few separate rooms and the main bar area. One of the rooms has a nice fire that is always welcome in my book. A good pub to have a few with mates in or have a quiet one before you have to go to your train at Forster Square, can attract some interesting locals with some interesting stories.

Oh dear.. next on the list to try out is the shoulder of mutton. Enter and its too late to back out. Its a Sam's Smith and I have a real problem with their beer. Everyone stared at me on entering, so I quickly took my pint and sat down on a table strewn in betting slips. I may not have liked the beer, but it didnt take long to move on.

I would just like to say that the management and staff at this establishment are second to none,

we call this pub the madhouse due to the assortment of characters this pub seems to attract, but it is friendly enough the beer is usually good, and the banter top notch. love the snug at the side of the bar if you can get a seat in there.

Concur totally with nimbusexpress. Top beer...massive beer garden...normally the starting point of a bradford night.
|
This is a great example of an unpretentious and genuine traditional city centre local. It's a fairly small pub that has a surprisingly large beer garden hidden away at the rear.
|
It's a bit dusty and dirty but the beer is good.

As someone said previously, this is a 'must visit' pub, even if you are not a Sam Smith's fan (there's always the Pure Brewed Lager if you dont like the Old Brewery Bitter).
|
Classic Sam Smiths pub with excellent reasonably priced ales, nooks and crannies containing crooks and nannies, with a touch of regularitis at the bar at times. Staff are 'functional'. Pubs like this get tarted up in other cities; thank goodness this one has been allowed to decay naturally, held together by beer and ash. A 'must see' fror the visitor to Bradford.

Doesn't look much from outside but as the blue plaque ouside suggested it was typical of a pub from circa 1825, I thought I would give it a go - Glad I did. The pub is comprised of several small rooms with a central bar and doesn't look to have changed much over the decades. Good hand pulled Sam Smits beer, cheap as always, was on fine form. The regulars were friendly, as was the landlady who allowed me in with the children for a quick drink on what was a very cold day. Worth a vist if you want to see a real pub.

The boozer where time stands still... and the prices!
Love this place, a good honest pub with no thrills. Nice loud but friendly crowd. Little rooms filled with the regulars, very tiered traditional decor. Large open yard at the back with a sheltered area for the smokers.
Situated just next to Forster Square Station, if your catching a train, give your self plenty of time a couple, cause you will want another!

Fairly typical unspoilt Sam's pub at the bottom of Kirkgate, close to the massive new Broadway development site ( still very much work in progress as at Nov 2008 )
The pub dates back to the early 19th century - see the plaque outside.
Like many Sam's pubs, the pub seemed popular with the more mature drinker, enjoying the hospitable atmosphere and cheap beer
I didn't get to try out the apparently renowned large sun trap garden as it had started raining. Besides which it was unfortunately a typically fresh November day ( effing cold to the unitiated !)
Worth popping in for a pint if passing by

Classic Sam Smith's pub. It once had the best pub food in Bradford, but when the beer's this good and this cheap, you can't really complain.
|
Nice enough beer garden with old man's pub. Stunningly low prices, but it's only Sam Smith's beer. Worth incorporating into a crawl.

I had a nice pint of Sam Smiths's bitter here yesterday 1.37. Never seems to change much - typical Sam's pub - cheap, smoky, full of generally older lads drinking the day away. Food here had/has a good rep but I've never had any so can't comment
