Great wee pub!! very welcoming, both staff and locals. We were Inverness fans down for a game and loved the place. Toooo much unfortunately, but Landlady looked after me, Cheers dear. Will visit when in Area again for sure, and to apologise for not listening to everyone who told me to stop drinking that cider!!!!

Has gone down hill since bike club moved in. Not sure who is running it anymore.Shame, a good pub taken over by thugs.

One to put on your list. A couple of barrels on the Bar for real ale, big tv's to watch the rugby on and a tidy Sunday lunch for 7 quid. I didnt clock any meatheads whilst I was there.... unless I am a meathead too!

Admittedly not the best looking pub in thwe world from the outside but then Twerton isnt the best looking neighborhood in the world either

Inside is a decent sized and basically decorated bar serving a good selection of Real's and local ciders.
Its the welcome that makes the pub worth giving a try
I was there before and after a game with Bath City and as a supporter of a club whos fans are usually treated like the 2nd coming of Atilla the hun it made a nice change to meet such a relaxed and friendly landlord. Gave us all day use of his small car park AND supplied bar nibbles after the game

good work

Bah, comments like the ones below put me off for ages, but I finally went there and... It's fine. Absolutely fine. Beers from the cask, big tellies for the sport, an outside garden-ish area next to the nascent Lidl's store, and a good cross-section of people. I like it.

This, the Royal Oak and the White Horse form a decent Ale Pub trio all within ten minute's walk of one another.

Went there a few times because they had some good guest ales on offer. I stopped going though because of the meathead clintele!

This pub was in the Good Beer Guide 8 years or so ago, but the management changed and things went downhill. I was told that I had to visit again as it was under new management. Glad I did. Very friendly couple running it, they keep the beer well and are trying to get a lot of different beers on too. Nice litle boozer, glad to see it back on form.

Rob the Landlord should get a medal. Not only is he picking some good beers he even done a cellar run for my companions and I ( a thing that happens rarely ). Great staff too, friendly and knowledgeable. Steadily becoming a favourite.

The Swedish analogy is quite good as I belive they have a high suicide rate too. The standards are all here Big screen, Stella, Fosters et al and shockingly a guest beer, have had Butcombe and Sharps in recently but nothing special.

The berr is pretty good but you might have a tough time tasing it through the clouds of smoke which billow freely across the bar. And it is probably that fact which will decide how you feel about the place.

If this pub was a country, it'd be Sweden. Nothing particularly remarkable about it, but nothing bad either. Like a Volvo, it's safe, sound, economical and reliable.
