Had a crap pint of 6x in here, tasted like warm dishwater. Terrible atmosphere, mostly deserted, will go elsewhere in future.

Popped in for a pint of Henry's (at a very reasonable price), nice pint of beer but only the landlord, and two other locals in the place. From listening to some of their conversartion, I would guess that there's been some changes to the landlord and a few locals are drinking elsewhere now. Also, seems to be open from about 3pm to 8pm at the moment, but if you're in the area, it's still worth popping your head in.

Also, does ham or cheese sarnies (with chips) that looked good. 6X was the other ale from the barrel behind the bar.

A traditional Wadworths pub situated a couple of minutes stroll from the centre. As you enter in to the entrance vestibule, you can go right in to the snug or left in to the public bar. Whilst the snug was undoubtedly small, it wasnt as cosy as might be expected and we found the public bar to have considerably more atmosphere. The snug was a triangular shape, with a helpful sign saying to ring bell for service, which was just as well as all the punters, and barman, were in the other bar.

As mentioned, the main bar is an attractive room with some thick, heavy beams on the ceiling as well as a small stained glass window that looks as though it may have come from a church. The floor is mostly slate tiles, although with some carpet as well and the walls had wood panelling lower down with a sandy wallpaper up above.

Numerous tankards, jugs and beer pump clips were hung from the ceiling and there was an impressive collection of beer mats stuck above the bar, although in contrast to this the only beers on offer were from Wadworths. The average age of the punters seemed to be well over fifty, and it was one of those pubs where everyone seemed to congregate at the bar, although at least you didnt have to push through to try and get served like some places.

Beers were all from Wadworths as previously noted, with Bishops Tipple being dispensed at the bar plus 6X and Henrys IPA coming from barrels racked up on the stillage behind. The solitary cider was Stowford Press.

This is a good friendly proper pub. I visited on a damp Saturday afternoon; it was fairly quiet, most of the customers appeared to be regulars. I had a sandwich with chips which was OK. IME Wadworths' beer doesn't travel well and is never in top condition more than 5-10 miles from the brewery in Devizes; however the pint I had was perfectly acceptable. It's nice to come across a traditional no-nonsense pub - there are fewer and fewer of these around.

Main bar (saloon?) was so busy we had to go into snug, which was less colourful in decor and characters. However, nice pint of Wadworths on a Saturday night

A very welcoming Pub just outside the City centre, the Landlord was very friendly and this shows in the way that he spoke and interacted with regulars and tourists such as me alike. Three Wadworth beers on including 6X and Henrys which I tried and found to be excellent. Would definitely visit again

This is a great little locals local with a friendly landlord, staff and customers. There are two rooms but we only went in the room to the left as there was a meeting going on in the other room. There are tankards hanging from the ceiling and pumpclips around the bar.. Two handpumps on the bar and 3 barrels behind it serving beer using a strange pumping method rather than gravity. Its a Wadworth pub so the beers were all theirs with Brains SA as a guest. I had a pint of the Henrys IPA and another of Malt n Hops, both were excellent. We only popped in for a quick one on our way back to the hotel but ended up staying for an hour. Its a pub thats not on the radar for visitors to Bath but its well worth finding. Be warned though its not open all day.

Wadworths have lowered the prices. Now only 2.40 for a pint of 6X. Most other pubs in Bath are now averaging 2.80 for a pint. This is still better than when I went to London and was paying around 3.30 for a pint!

Nice pub and friendly staff, but like The Curfew (another Wadworths pub) it's pricey! Worth a visit though.

I find this pub very welcoming, and the staff and regulars are friendly. I haven't had a bad pint in this pub yet.

Pleasant pub, friendly atmosphere, good beer. Nice Dog. No outside seating. Also prone to shutting very promptly, which can catch one out at lunchtime.

I spent a weekend in Bath, visited three different pubs, and this was the clear winner. Beautiful ales, really friendly service, sound fellow punters and a great atmosphere. I had the Wicked Witch as it was the night before Guy Fawkes (good) and JCB (absolutely beautiful). I have given it a nine, it loses a point as it was a touch too smokey and because the missus drinks lager, and their selection wasn't great.

A great night, and the dog is lovely.

Very good- real friendly with the best pub dog ive ever met! Wadworth so good selection of theyre Henrys an IPAs and specials on. Sandwiches and stuff at lunchtime so good for a quick bite, perhaps the best traditional-style pub (just) in the city centre.

I visited the New Inn for the first time in many years on a recent lunchtime, and it appeared to be very popular, with many customers having meals. Quite a cosy pub nowadays, with a friendly welcome from behind the bar. Wadworths beers are the mainstay, and there is also evidence that guest beers are sold (although none available on my visit). My pint of JCB was pristine, probably the best I've tasted. My companions were similarly impressed with their 6X and Henrys IPA. I would certainly recommend making the short stroll from the City Centre to try this one out.
