Yes, shut again. The owner has wanted to convert this to a house for some time, and had shut it previously. The council refused the change of use (which makes a pleasant change) so she reopened it. Whether she gave it a real go or just went thru the motions I couldn't say. A shame but there you go. So over to the council again.

Popped over on Sunday afternoon (2ish) and it was shut. Despite the notice in the window saying it was open all day.
Is this place ever open?

Well, I finally got round to visiting. Pleasant little spot, comfortable seating, with reasonable beer selection. Great beer garden area out the back. Unfortunately not open at lunchtime during the week, but extended opening hours at the weekend.

Well the pub is now open for business, which is good news. I haven't been in yet, but will do so shortly, weather permitting.

A correction to my previous post. The application for a license has gone in and is being processed. I'll let people know when it reopens.

I've just seen a note Hash House Harriers site that this pub has newly reopened, which is great news.

Sadly, this little pub is closed at the moment. The present owners are trying to say it is not viable - they want to turn it into a house. No attempt has been made to market it, and, given it is a free house with an enthusiastic village support not to mention passing trade with walkers - when they're allowed in - it ought to be a very attractive proposition. The local residents are fighting this proposal, and the Bath & Borders CAMRA Heritage Pub Officer is also on the case. Will keep people posted.

Very nice little pub, quite smart, good beer. Off the beaten track, but well worth a detour if you're cycling in the vicinity

I have just moved to Batheaston and went exploring. I found this pub and had a pint of Gem. I will be returning to this pub as I love the beer garden.

This pub looks great from the outside , but i got no further as the landlord said i could not come in with my dog as it was an eating pub. oh well off to the kings arms at monkton farliegh then.

We were on holiday and walked from Marshfield to Northend and stumbled across this delightful pub. A warm welcome was given to a couple of tired walkers. The beer we drank was "Gem" and was very good and well kept, and sustained us for the return journey. The landlady explained that the pub had been renovated and in our opinion this had been very tastefully done. The garden area was very attractive and would be lovely to sit in during the good weather. The whole ambience of this pub was lovely and would heartily recommend it to all especially walkers in the vicinity (although please remove any muddy boots before entering out of respect as this pub was very clean).
