Not too many in on my lunchtime visit.
Quite a large pub with different rooms and a lot of beams etc.
Not impressed by a large TV screen with some unknown sports channel on. Nor the rather prominent pool table.
Only one real ale on which was OK but not cheap.
On this showing the Spotted Dog is probably better.

Nice olde worlde pub at the end of the village High Street. Lunchtime visit. First the good bits;- Welcoming and pleasant staff, good food at a reasonable price and HPA - Hereford Pale Ale on one of the pumps, on good form and served well. Now the not so good bits;- Internal seating not too comfortable, big screen television, (fortunately not on during our visit), quiz nights, open mic nights, Sharps Doom Bar and the place was oh so cold. Possibly visit again, when the weather is warmer, and we can sit in the garden.

Have to agree with last reviewer.... when you go into a pub in herts, you dont expect to be confronted by beers from the west country. Tribute and Betty Stoggs (which I have only previously seen down the Lizard). Nice pub to complement a nice vilage.

Nice boozer, but why do so many pubs around south Hertfordshire only want to sell you beer from Cornwall. How about some Tring, or even better - Marlow beers? Staff were cracking though and the food spicy and delicious, excellent value. Ale was full of yeast though.

cracking little pub. we went in for a pint before chirstmas, ending up having 3. good range of ales, though i stuck to the betty stogs by skinners.. lovely landlady and landlord. stayed for sunday lunch which is definitely the best in the area, two open fires and longer than normal opening times for the area

Old looking oak-beamed pub in the little village of Flamstead with a convenient bus stop outside. Nice interior with horse related dcor, indeed one punter turned up in his horse & cart and tethered it up outside whilst having a pint. There is a low ceilinged room to the right of the main bar for food and a pool table and dart board to the left. A couple of tables sit outside I the car park for smokers. Three beers on, Old Hookey, Rev. James and Jennings Cumberland. I got the end/start of a barrel and it wasnt pulled through that well, drinkable but not the best Old Hooky experience Ive had. 2.90 a pint but I believe they have cheap deals during weekday afternoons. Nice friendly community pub which I imagine is getting more custom now that the only other pub in the vicinity, the Spotted Dog, is temporarily closed.

The beer here was quite good.. both the Tring Side Pocket and Brain's Reverend James were eminently drinkable. Service was a bit slow though it was Scarecrow Festival and a lot of fumbling families making their minds up while drinker's with throats like emery boards awaited their thirsts to be slaked. Will be interesting to see if the quality of beer is as a good during a period of low turnover though. Nice enough pub though and worth dropping in to.

Great pub to visit, now run by a local family, have eaten here twice since they have taken over and the food is now fantastic, good beer too. Keep up the good work at the Three Blackbirds.

Achtung, Spitfire! That was my humorous compliment to the landlord for the high quality of his Shepherd Neame Spitfire ale. It is still a character historic pub, that is also a highly living and sociable pub too. The beer garden and open space outside is much more usable than a few years ago. Three real ales in all, from regional brewers. Well worth a visit.

Changed hands recently,
Now offering 3 ales and a new Chef on the food front..
Worth a visit.

Good pub, went in there on a sunday afternoon. Locals were quite (maybe too) friendly and barmaid curtious.
