Quiet when we visited on Easter Saturday early on in a mammoth trek from Tackley to Oxford along the canal but still quite impressive. Diners are clearly well catered for with no nonsense pub grub, the ale selection was imaginative and local and there is a pool table. Canal paraphernalia and literature also feature. Promising.

What's on offer: A very warm welcome, 5 real ales, 3 draught ciders, variety of lagers,a wide range of wines, bottled lager, ales, ciders and soft drinks. A new chef with a dazzling new menu. In a chocolate box location next to the canal, with a garden running to the waters edge. Must be a great place to sit with a pint reading the paper. However, it was quiet when we visited. Enjoyed a nice pint of Wye Valley Butty Bach and an excellent cheese ploughmans. A nice venue but rammed no doubt in the summer with passing canal boaters!

Visited with my wife, our two children, two friends and their two kids. Got off to a good start with accommodating 8 of us for lunch on a Saturday. Whilst the menu was not extensive what we got was nice and the waiting staff were very friendly and obliging. HOWEVER.....what was not made clear was what can be constituted as a Child's meal (no separate list on the menu) and we ordered a child's burger. In fact we were told that we just order for a child and get a smaller portion. So, when we came to pay our 80.00 bill we became embroiled in a protracted discussion with the manager over the price we were charged for one of the kid's meals. We were looking for a gesture from the owner of a few quid reduction for not making this clear. The gesture I felt we were going to get was two fingers - but reluctantly he gave us 4 off claiming that now he was "losing money". He stomped around and we left...but not before we left a 5 tip (for the waiters!!!).

Lovely little pub next to the Oxford Canal. The menu was pretty good and the quality of the food was reasonable. Wye Valley on tap, and a friendly publican who was happy enough to lend us a pack of cards. Little section off the main bar had a pool table, which was a personal highlight.

Visited this pub for the first time, early on Thursday lunchtime. My wife's glass had lipstick on it. My beer had yeast particles swirling around in it. The Greek landlord said that "real ale is like that". He reluctantly changed it for another, which he drew 2 pints off before serving it. I have since heard similar tales of woe. Food was OK. No lights or heating on in the 'consewrvatory' over looking the canal. I shan't rush back!

Much improved pub by the side of the Oxford Canal in the hamlet of Enslow. Now owned by a greek, the range of Real Ales has improved with 3 Cask Conditioned beers 2 of which are constantly changing. Friendly service and good looking food, Certainly worth a visit.
