please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Now owned by local Donnington brewery and serves three of their beers of which we had the Gold which was in good fettle. We ate there and the food was excellent. Very convenient for the adjacent steam railway.

Old school working countryman's pub.
Beer and cider good.
Thai food perfectly fine.
English food utterly dreadful.

The Pheasant changed hands 18 months back, (maybe a bit more), so would ignore 2008 and earlier posts.
Does an excellent Thai, eat in or take away. English menu also available.
Still serves a good pint of the local Stanway beer.
Also does a breakfast menu.
Good value and friendly service.

We have stopped here twice for a Thai mean cooked on the spot by a real Thai cook. Both times it has been fast, tasty and well presented, served with charm and efficiency. Driving, so could not try the beer :-( but an interesting local brewery

After my comments in 005, was persuaded to visit again in 2008 [late May]; this was, effectively, a wake for a deceased relative.
MUCH better; service, food, drinks, all good to very good.

Up from a five to a seven - again, in my opinion.

Visited on 28 June 2008, in conjunction with a visit to the Gloucester & Warwickshire Railway, which is next door. I am planning another visit and came accross this site whilst searching for contact details for this pub.

I must say I am surprised at some of the comments. It is true that it was quiet when I attended for Sunday lunch (This is not a complaint so far as I am concerned - and I was quite early) but I found the food etc to be of a more than acceptable standard - afterall, I am contemplating a return visit!

Seems to have gone downhill since my last visit.Broken light fittings and a tatty interior;staff sloppy and a lack of customers at Sunday lunchtime.Food overpriced for location.

Beer superb.

Serves a lovely pint of stanway 'stanney' Bitter. Food was awful. Sunday roast was well 90% submerged in Gravy!

the only thing that is good about the pub was the beer had worse but had alot better had to wait over 20 mins to get served for a drink and for the food never got to eat as waited for over 1.5 hours for food ended up walking out disgraceful

Local real ales and home cooked foods of generous proportions make The Pheasant well worth a visit. The new management have done a first class job improving the food quality and the Sunday roast looks good value for money.

Not having been for a while, I called in to find a new manager. The pub was spotless and the food was fantastic. It has had some shaky times but a great community local with good service. Having been away for a while I will be back often with my family. Well done

Used to visit it occasionally - as have relatives near-by. Used to eat there, too - but the last such visit, a couple of years ago, perhaps summer 2003, put us off. Poor restaurant service, poor food.
Drinks were OK - but not exactly cheap.
I expect it is much better now - but that was then.

Large pub at roundabout near terminus of steam railway. Friendly service and good pint of local Stanway ale. Many tables laid out for meal but empty as we were there late afternoon
