Accomodation at rear, built in the early 2000's and very nice and, in a building that blends in. Side garden fine. The landlord was very friendly as was the pub dog Rufus. Three ales, good beer, London prices. The Pub - this is not a gastro pub. The pub and restaurant are caught in time - 1990's - nothing wrong with that but, I guess, in a few years time, don't be surprised if it is completely different.

Nice country pub log fire in bar area very friendly landlord and his dog, good selection of real ales very good food and accomodation would love to go back if working near again.

this is a freehouse, and should be the best pub around. its not. the beer prices are high, and dont tell me he pays the same as all these tied pubs. food should keep to the pub grub idea as this suits the rural country pub theme. owners are very nice and genuine. with a few tweeks could and should outshine all local competition.

Good ale and pizza`s are great.

Fond memories of visiting here for the bar billiards (none now, sadly).

We like this pub rustic yes but what`s wrong with that? Beer is always well kept on our visits and its nice to sit outside on a sunny afternoon.

A superb country pub, with wonderful welcoming locals, cannot understand some of the quotes above, good food, a bit pricey, but clean and welcoming, if you don't like dogs, maybe country pubs are not for you! Bar staff very friendly and accommodating, very honest old school pub with no airs or graces! Keep it up Mucky Duck, we will definitely return!

Returned to this pub after being away for a few weeks and to be honest was a bit disappointed. The manager who was there before has left and the new manager/owner was serving. Seems an ok chap , food was ok(pricey) . Will persevere as it has lot of potential and I live close by.

The food is awful and the beer even worse. The place is dirty, and if you were expecting VFM - dont. One of the worst pubs i have ever been in!!!

I recentlty visted this pub, and I am going to give an honest account. In two words VERY BAD. I caught a dog running around in the kitchen, and when the food arrived (very expensive) it was on par with a ready made meal. We were seated in what is best described as tacky decor that looked and felt dirty. Avoid!

The beer is good, the bar staff friendly without being pushy, the locals are friendly and welcoming. A good traditional pub with a selection of acceptable but admittedly pricey food. If you are worried about animals as per the other posts then don't eat there.

An OK pub , food is very pricey ( london prices) ,good food but just too dear. Lot of potential here but could do with spruce up. Beer was very good , had superb pint of London pride. The manager/barman was pleasant, chatted to us about various things - weather , politics , his upcoming marraige - good general chat. All in all decent enough pub .

can't agree more with the last comment. very sad for the locals
|
awful only slightly better than the fox which has to be the worst pub in the south east, pity those poor locals...what a choice to have to make on a friday night?? think id opt for a take away!!
|
this is straight out of kitchen nightmares. animals running free and the place could do with a spring clean.
|
i think the only reason these people survive here is the rooms....be fair there is nowhere else to stay, so he has cornered the market. i cannot understand in todays world of strict hygene how there are animals all over the place....beer is a food product after all. where are the e.h.o when you need them.

Garden furniture broken with nails sticking up. Garden chess set badly broken / no white draughts. Signs up everywhere - 'Children not welcome and shouldn't be in pubs' - 'If you don't like cats or dogs take your custom elsewhere'. One of our drinks glasses chipped. Visted on Fathers Day at lunchtime, pub empty and chef sitting watching the Grand Prix on TV. Left after one drink and went to the Fox Inn nearby which was a pleasure to visit.

We had a light soup (vegetable) lunch here about 5 weeks ago, very nice and fairly priced but just a bit mean on the portion sizes. They also have some very good accommodation facilities but it's best to check prices first. This is after all the Sussex / Surrey border ! ! 7/10

A local pub for local people. Distinct echo of duelling banjos.

this is like stepping back in time...there are animals everywhere, even on the bar at times. but hey, if its o.k with you the beer is not bad....don't expect to be wowed by the food.

Off of the beaten Track Pub & B +B. You really need a car to get here. Good selection of Beers and Lagers. Large feature Fireplace which has a roaring wood fire in the winter. TV in the corner and Fruit Machine. Have been here several times mainly on a Saturday Dinnertime. Good menu with Specials Board, although the food is good and plentyful I think a tad over priced for the country, more like London Prices. Still worh a visit particulary if the weather is nice.
|
Great pub with some nice unique beers. The London Pride is especially good here and worth a try. The food is excellent as the chef used to work in London hotels and cooks to a high standard but reasonable prices. Good all round pub!!!

Rural pub with large garden and kids play area. Large log fire in the winter. Local real ales and regular guest ales. Homecooked food every day. Luxury ensuite rooms
