New Inn, Pembridgeback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Excellent ancient pub in Herefordshire's Black & White villages. Well kept beers, rotating guest beer which is always interesting. Rustic uneven benches at the back overlooking the old market place, and other benches underneath the old market house. Wonderful setting, strikingly beautiful building. Very friendly staff who helped us out to find accommodation. We came back several times when touring through Herefordshire. Excellent.

Spent my honeymoon here Sept. 1971, the landlord was a Major Deer, we had a cool reception on arrival but that soon changed and I think the reason may be the confetti that had been packed into our luggage which ended up everywhere when unpacking. I remember going down to the bar and asking for a Brown & mild and being told, [ We don't serve that here but if that's what I want I should ask for ?????} cant remember what it was, obviously too common for this Inn. ( classic ) The food was good but being young and uneducated probably didn't appreciate it, anything I left was questioned and an alternative was delivered to the table regardless if I had had enough, (we were being looked after.) The best part was the evenings, when we just wanted to sit on our own for a quiet drink we would be made to sit in the public bar with all the regulars, ( kind though I think) the only problem there was when we were tired and ready for bed it was to embarrassing to get up and leave, so most nights we sat up till closing time. I have since lost my wife after 38 yrs. of happy marriage, and am very tempted to pay another visit for old time sake, it would be nice to have the same room where you had to run up hill from the bed to the door. Fond memories.

Agree with previous posts about location and lovely ancient feeling. On the flip-side, customer service was not a strong point, nor the food. I was looking forward to an excellent herefordshire steak (rare) and my partner, pheasant. Neither delivered, the steak was tough and overcooked and the pheasant was dry, despite being covered in gravy. As service was an effort I would recommend that no one else makes the effort to enter this establishment. Fortunately, there are many other pubs offering excellent food and service with a smile in the area.

The New Inn is a rare gem in a world of modern , trendy, expensive bars this lovely old inn stands out as being a real treasure . I go to visit every time i am in Herefordshire, for the Roast beef alone it should have a rating of ten! you could argue that the facilities are a little out dated but would we really like to see another witherspoons characterless pub in its place i hope not! these buildings must cost a fortune to maintain and i love to see the 14th centuary ruggedness show through!! we live in a world that has become too serious, clinical and critical, lets just take a step back and enjoy what we have that is special in this country and the New Inn should be included in that . beautiful building in a lovely village with great beer and lovely food the best place to spend a Sunday

Great pub architecturally in a wonderful village location, overlooking the old Market Square. The village is well worth a wonder around. The real ales are fairly standard fare - Green King IPA, Sharps Doom Bar and Wychwood Paddy's Stout. Locally made Dunkertons Black Fox & Premium Organic are available in bottles (we also visited the Dunkertons cider press nearby). This pub could have been our pub of the day, if it hadn't have been for the slightly frosty reception we received. Responses from the landlady were all fairly curt. Whilst stopping short of being unfriendly, we were left with the distinct impression that the staff were unhappy that we'd walked in 10 minutes before the pub was shutting for the afternoon. Perhaps the location of the pub has left the owners resting on their laurels. Nevertheless, we had a very pleasant time watching the comings and goings in the Market Square whilst supping a cider in the glorious weather yesterday.

I agree with the other 2 reviews - mostly. Food and drink is good quality and average prices. Try the giant cod & chips!! Yes, the premises are lovely but the bar area & toilets let the place down. The bar is tired and a bit grubby, some clean glasses have lipstick marks and the toilets are postively Dickensian, and bloody cold in winter as they are practically outside. Just needs some money spent on it to make it so much better! Because of these faults I can only give it a 6.
