Very old from the outside, but heavily altered inside. Still, the beer was good and the food very good

Visited this pub last Sunday. Always had very good meals hence the return visit. Gone downhill since our last visit. Very disappointing. Had Hunters Chicken which comprised of a luke warm rubbery piece of chicken, few chips and peas. Partner had steak pie which comprised of a pie, one spoonful of mash and one spoonful of cabbage. Still hungry so had pudding. Bannoffi Pie came out warmer than the Hunters Chicken which was rather worrying. Won't be going back. Our meal at Table Table in Holes Bay Poole was far nicer.

Bit late putting in this review but we visited this pub in July while holidaying at Sandford Park. We arrived, mob handed, 10 adults and various kids aged from 10 months upwards, found a large room which was closed off and asked if we might use it. The staff and the manager couldn't have been more helpful even when we barricaded ourselves in with a couple of chairs to stop our boisterous babies from escaping. The food was good and the service was excellent.

We have been going to this Pub for meals for at least 18 yrs, and in the past have really enjoyed the meals. Recently, it has gone down hill regarding food and service. The meals aren't up to the standard that we are used to, they are also serving smaller portions. The waitresses bring the meal to you and tell you the sauces are following, whilst waiting for the sauces the meals are getting cold, we have had to start the meal before the sauces arrive which is very bad. We were hungry after our meal so ordered sweets. The Ice Cream had melted before we had chance to eat it. What a shame that the food and service isn't so good. We keep going back to this pub hoping that things may have changed, but I think things are worse. We wont be going back for some time now, we will be trying Lambs Green next time we go out.

Met friends for lunch there recently. Typical chain pub, nice building, lunch acceptable (why do sandwiches come with chips or salad - what is wrong with just having sandwich if you don't want a lot?). Beer OKish (Ringwood Best - hazy but drinkable, also London Pride and Caledonian 80). Friends said food much better than a couple of days before. No atmosphere, no character.

We were advised that this pub was dog friendly but after walking through the pub to the outside back beer garden we were told dogs only allowed out the front (no signs to indicate that). When we tried to walk the dog back through the pub we were refused 'company policy' so had to climb over the fence with him into the car park (just as well he's only small). No Magners on offer, then tried to order the only vegetarian children's meal (pasta) to be told 'pastas off!'. Never again and no recommendations from us - only reason they rate 1 is that they had cranberry juice

Visited here recently- has same menu as Lambs green in corfe mullen, yet food quality and service standards fall well below that which we experienced at Lambs green.

A lovely pub, recently refurbished and no longer a Brewers Fayer. Overall a vast improvement on it's previous form, including the menu!
The first time I visited, was the Evening before my wedding and I was impressed with the standard of food and selection from the menu.
Upon returning last night (18/6/07)the menu choice appeared to be different a little different, I ordered the 'Award Winning Three Shire Sausage' which came approximately 10 minutes later, it appear that it was pre prepared, and whilst I cant confirm this, the Onion gravy was rather jelly like in its consitancy. Over all though it was hot and tasty. the Gem of the evening though was the Baked Alaska with Rasberry sauce, a truely great dessert!
The atmosphere in the pub is great too, with no children and with some gentle piano music playing quietly, provided great ambiance.

Ate here recently - ordered Gammon steaks with 2 eggs on top - recieved meal - the eggs were RAW - the whits of the eggs were "snotty" - I had to send the meal back. Please see my review of their sister pub - THE LAMBS GREEN INN in corfe mullen. I had exactly the same results - rubbish chef if you can call him that!

Nice refubishment - shame about the cooking standards.

What a waste of space this pub is ! Actually more of a resturant now; but the food is dire. Ordered a pint of Speckeled Hen, which was pumped through a Guiness pipe hence the Guiness head on it !!!!! Will never darken the door again.

Been a weekly visitor to this pub since renovation, decor, food and ambiance great improvement and no more little ones running around. Sadly after today I will not be returning to this pub. Food not up to scratch complained - politely but manager very rude and suggested that if I didn't like go somewhere else. You should be able to inform of poor service but sadly the current manager not customer friendly.

Recently undergone renovation and changed hands. Had a nice meal with good service. Not a super child friendly pub now, a lot quieter! A lot better than the old days, I should know - I worked there!

Great grub - fast service - but noisy kids running around between the tables, shouting...... and crying babies turned it into a trial. There's a kid's play room, but on my visit they were running around the dining area too.

Busy Busy place with tons of kids and fast brewers fair food. Not the place to come for the CAMRA guys but if you want your kids entertained and have a plate of chips, does the job.

Brewers Fayre place but not as bland as some of them. Beer was reasonable and I even managed a rare win on the quiz machine recently.
