Plough and Harrow, Drakes Broughtonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Our family travelled from many miles around to have a pre-Christmas meal from the carvery. A choice of three well cooked tender meats and a wide choice of vegetables, the area for serving is perhaps a little bit cramped. What totally spoiled the occasion was the fact that our partially deaf elderly relatives couldn't hear most of the conversation due to the loud music playing out of a speaker right by the table. This was totally unnecessary and gave the pub the feel of a shopping mall. Three ales available: Otter Bitter, Banks' Bitter and the dreaded Doom Bar.

Under new management - give it a try...

In response to comment by Nick Matthews I would like to point out that 'overspills' are kept and recorded at the end of every night for stock purposes only and not for any other reason!

Further to my comment 26 Sep 2009, I saw today that the bar staff (Claire, the manageress) keep a glass of 'overspill' by some of the taps which they sneak into the next customers pint! That must be against about 100 EU directives!

I can only agree with alastair5. The new bar manager really spoils this pub. and he seems determined to serve you a 'short' pint which is something that I find very offensive!
On a more positive note, they have 6X and Bass which are generally good and they usually have a guest beer too. Food is on the expensive side but is different to the usual pub menu.

A nice pub apart from one thing. The bar manager! Since a new manager (who finds it degrading to be called bar staff) has been appointed he has created a bad atmosphere. Sorry cannot recommend this place.

Visited this pub last night. Very enjoyably experience. Is a large place with a decently sized bar area, and a lot of space turned over to diners. They had three Handpulls on, Bass and Wadworths 6X, as regulars and Jack the whippet as a guest, all very pleasant. The food was all very nice, the menu being upper class pub food, of the lamb shank, venison stew variety (both lovely). The service was also friendly. The building itself is an old barn, extenisvely modernised, but with some lovely beams. Everywhere is decorated in very light colours, which make it very welcoming, but less of a traditional pub, and obviously aimed at family dining. Outside there is a large beer garden. All in all, not a classic boozer, but a great place to visit, and have a drink and some food.
