was staying here for work purposes - great rooms, superb value and easy booking. Locals made our stay really welcoming and invited us out. Was meant to go home earlier, but added a few extra night on (cos it was such great value and Marcus did us a GREAT deal!) and made it down to their music festival - it was absolutely brilliant, one really great live band the rest were ok, even better beer - real ales served from the cask like the old days: no gas, no lines - therefore no shit. Perfect pints every time, at the perfect temperature (about 12*c) as a beer nerd (camra member), I loved this pub and will definitly go back. Cheers Marcus, we had a great stay and a great day out!

I was flicking through the news feed at work just now, looking for somewhere to go for a pint tonight and saw this. Got to echo the comments the others have made, I was in there about a month or so ago and it's a bloody great place, really 'different' ethos from most pubs you've ever gone to - that I can definitely guarantee. You'll see just what I mean when you go in.

One of the most hospitable 'drinkers pubs' I've ever been to. Locals are charming and welcoming, the landlord is remarkably accommodating and helpful and the barstaff know their beers and drinks. Overall, a fantastic pub with an extraordinary interior design; a real smorgasbord of character that is frequently added to or reinvented. Every time I go back something has changed. It has a great selection of real ales from a wide and quickly changing range of breweries. Also the food is pretty good, traditional pub menu, nothing too fancy just good old fashioned pub grub. We've stayed four times in the B&B, and every time experienced the same high standards. Out back there's a great play area for the kids, and a beautiful village pond/common area for the family to visit. The pub also puts on plenty of 'nights' and even karaoke on a saturday night, which is a hysterical guilty pleasure. This pub is like no other I've seen, especially in the area. Utterly Brilliant. Highly recommend it.

Fantastic pub for drinkers, really good atmosphere - a real enigma of a watering hole this one, decorated in what can only be described as a truly unique style that is bizarrely in-keeping with the history of this 14th century dated pub. It strikes me as absurd to rate a pub on the basis of previous posts that are mostly well over 2 years old. There have been several terrible landlords that have ruined the reputation of this pub, notably the last two.
It must be said that the current Landlord, Marcus Kinge, has turned the place around massively and the Cricketers Inn has proven to be one of the best pubs in the area; serving top ales (at the perfect temperature of 12 degrees celsius) with excellent cellar maintenance and a rotation system that keeps the guest ales interesting and in demand. This pub also bucks the trend of other local drinking establishments going bust, as it is still busy most evenings and especially at weekends. Fantastic pub!!

This pub has changed hands recently and the new people seem to know how to run a traditional country pub.
Great atmosphere, guest beers, excellent food and the place is just what you'd expect from a proper country pub.
Haven't tried the B&B but if it's run like the rest of the pub it'll be excellent!

Thanks to everyone that has provided feedback over the past few years. We have a young, new team that are committed to improving on these areas as well as any future customer feedback.
We are planning a number of big events this year that we hope will set Kingsley on fire!!

Terrible place, avoid it like the plague. We stayed in their B&B, they got our friends booking in for the wrong month and could only offer them a twin. We asked for breakfast between 8:30 and 9, but were told the chef wasn't going to be in so it would be a cold selection. Turned up at 9:01 to eat and the whole pub was locked up with the lights out, spoke the manager 5 mins later and they just said it was too bad we missed it and they wouldn't provide breakfast, but we would still have to pay for it, because the chef needed paying!
Dreadful customer service, very basic accomodation for �65 night and when I pointed out that we were told there was no cooked breakfast they just denied it and said I was lying!! Worst B&B I've ever stayed in.

was in there last week, had a couple of pints of Wadworth 6X which was on draught. Very quiet, pity the toilets smell so much.

Nice pub with a great garden.
We visited on the day of Englands World Cup failure, as a 'football free zone' we were 3 of about 7 customers. The beer was good, and though we didn't eat the menu looked good enough to get us back.
They have a very good young childrens play area in the main garden, my son gave that full approval!
