please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Reviews seem out of date, lovely bright pub. No sign of any pool table or fruit machines just TVs. Nice friendly staff, sat in garden which had beautiful flowers, train was delayed so couldn't stay long but would gladly visit again.

Interesting blend of characters. Only one bitter on - Youngs Special - which was on good form. Loud dub reggae blaring when I entered (I like dub reggae, so no bother to me). Almost a carnival atmosphere for so early in the evening. Would have to agree with Quinno's summation further below...

Change of Landlord apparently in the last month. Dirty glasses and a barman who didn't really have a clue, the beer I had, Bingham's Brickworks was hazy but tasted OK. There is a large traveller's site in Twyford and this pub is frequented by many of them. You are as likely to hear robust opinions said in strong Irish accents than any other. A shabby pub that I will probably not visit again.

Basic but homely pub close to station. 2 binghams beers on - one replaced the Youngs. 3.25/pint and beer a little hazy even though a new barrel put on - probably not settle. Shame about games machines - wot they for? Worth a visit for local beer.

Great place for a game of killer and a few jars before a bift in stanlake on way home! TGC members regularly frequent this establishment, they are a friendly bunch apart from the one they call 'angry robert earnshaw' stay clear of him! You can tell members by their uniform browns, blue jeans, white or black shirt!

The Golden Cross (TGC) has been the long standing HQ for South Twyfordians, and TGC members alike. Led by player/manager and landlord (The Chairman), the TGC use this establishment as a base point before planning their strategic hunts in various venues across the local area. Highly reccomended and very female friendly.

The weakest of the three (four if you count Ruscombe) pubs in the area. The inside is a bit shabby and the beer quality is often as iffy as the punters. Usually Flowers IPA and a.n.other available. There's a TV tuned in for sports and there's often a dog of some description wandering round. Given how close it is to the station I'm surprised more effort hasn't gone into making the place a more attractive prospect for those who have a 20 minute wait for a train. If this place was better Twyford would have a cracking set of pubs to choose from.

very nice pint of lodden was quaffed here with mates in the beer garden a couple of months back ,8/10

This pub is a little more "gritty" than the others that you'll find in Twyford. There are pool tables, darts and the beer is basic fare with a heavy focus on lagers. If that's your taste, you'll like it but others should avoid as there are better pubs in Twyford such as the Duke and Royal Oak.
That said, the TV is a good size and so it's fine for watching sport. It's also very close to Twyford station.

Emergency pint only. Not somewhere I'd make a special trip out for, but not necessarily a bad pub either.

This Pub is my local and I think it's great. Has a reputation for its friendly (and frequently lively) 20 - 30 somethin+ crowd.
Mark, the Land lord is a nice guy (I'll have my free pint now pls). And the other bar staff are a good laugh too.
Great cosy feel. Large TV, Pool table, nice beer garden including kids play area. Great selection of beers and real ales. What more do you want?
Well, food other than pasties & peparamies would be nice, but you can't have everything.....
