This pub is now called Infernos. Good, down to earth boozer, sky sports, cheap drinks and food. Not one for those that are big fans of real ale, but a decent, friendly pub.

A busy pub with 1 real ale on - Doom Bar. It was in a poor condition and we had to return it. The mojito beer in a bottle wasn't too bad though. There's a couple of TVs to keep the punters entertained. It seems to have a decent band of regulars and is popular on matchdays. Shame about the beer quality though.

We are entitled to our opinions. I took over as manager of The Inferno back in October. It is now a nice clean and friendly place to come for a social drink, we now also have sky sports 3D, which no other pub in the valley has, we also have an XBOX Kinect for extra nights of fun, with prizes on offer. Would like to say to Mr Shanley it is certainly not chavvy now. Thank you.

There is nothing wrong wit this pub. Great pub great prices. Definatley great staff. I work for pub close to the inferno and would rather drink there than my pub.

obviously this pub and its staff and customers are being slandered by individuals who have been thrown out and barred for the very behaviours they are accusing innocent others of, all anonomously. This is not only cowardly but also criminally slanderous. I know this pub to be well run clean and freindly. The management maintain and monitor standards rigourously and I have no reservation reccommending the reasonably priced beers to anyone who wants to share a drink in good honest company,

Worst pub in Southampton. Avoid like the plague. No good beer, rubbish place, rubbish people. Chavs!

Now called The Inferno, this pub is truly rough and ready- selling cheap beer to definitely non-student types of a very uncosmopolitan nature. Now seemingly quite busy but rough. As different from the gentile, real ale and unusual bottled beer pub the New Inn was as it is possible to imagine which is a shame...

Now called 'Inferno' Looks crap so didn't go in.
|
Now called the Usual Suspects but still has the New Inn sign outside.

What has happened to this once great local?

once great pub, now sadly ruined. No decent beer and no customers. Makes me want to cry.

What has happened to this pub. Used to be an essential visit, but now has no customers and no real ale available. What a shame.

I'm not quite sure what is happening to this pub at present. When Fuller's allowed the Gales shareholders to realise their dreams of quitting work and moving to Monaco this was always going to be a pub surplus to their requirements. Consequently on the market and with the potential to be a spendid Free House in a part of Southampton with several other good pubs. As it stands, it is obviously uncared for and needing investment. But it is a proper wet trade-led pub. It seems that it is currently - and for some considerable period of time - under offer. Here's hoping the future's bright for this small little corner pub.

Yes this pub is now much better than the Bevois; Alas not because it has improved, rather the bevois has lost it.
If you must drink Gales god-forsaken beers, this is as good a place as any,and has a reasonable atmosphere

Small, old-fashioned looking pub on a busy road. Appeared to have been redecorated recently, with a dark red/green colour sheme which felt a little oppressive with the low ceiling, but well worth another visit. Gales beers were in very good condition. A much better bet for ale drinkers than the Bevois Castle across the road.
