Hurray!!
The White Hart is finally under the new management of a local married couple, and how the atmosphere of the place has changed. It's now welcoming, warm and friendly. Many of the regulars who were driven away by the former landlord have begun to re-appear.
Food isn't yet available, but we hear that this will change in the New Year.
The whole village wishes Steve & Rachel every success.

The landlord of this pub went out of his way to open the kitchen at very short notice for a group of us girls looking for a meal out. The food was great as was the service and we all had a brilliant evening. Also whenever my husband and I want somewhere local to go for lunch we always feel welcome here and, no, we are not regulars

Lovely-looking pub - all exposed studwork and beams, brass and Toby-jugs. It would be a picture-postcard English village pub, except for the big bald tattooed aggressive and surly man behind the bar, masquerading as a pub landlord.

I find this place OK at lunchtimes when it's quiet, but a bit overpowering in the evenings when the regulars sit all along the bar without moving for anyone trying to get served, and effing and blinding at high volume. Shame, because the beer and the food is good, but I think every pub in Wakering is the same; I would'nt recommend any of them a s a place to take the wife and kids.

Perhaps it was a stupid thing to do but we wanted to visit our favourite pub where we did our courting nearly 30 uears ago.
We live abroad and on a rare visit we invited our English side of the family to meet up at the White Hart. The pub looked the same as we drove up but the ear-shattering music as we entered was to say the least somewhat of a sad suprise. Strange that most of the customers were pressed against the side of the walls in an effort to escape the blaring of the speakers.
If we were not waiting for our famiy to arrive we would have walked out. But instead we found a corner of the bar and then stood listening to the foul mouthed conversation being conducted - not by youngsters - but by 'mature' customers. Perhaps we've been away from England too long but if this is the 'classic' country pub nowadays then thank God we moved away.
We spoke to a couple of locals while we endured the 'ambiance' and they agreed that to shout at each other to make conversation was not their idea of a Friday night out. They seemed to shrug their shoulders and accept the way things are now.
Can anyone tell us if and when we do come back again where we can go to find a good old traditional English pub? Sadly we tell all our foreign friends how wonderful English pubs are and yet unfortunately we tell them lies!

Probably one of the best pubs around! You don't find many pubs like this anymore! It's full of old charm. The staff and the locals all seem to know each other, sometimes jokes and comments are shouted from one end of the bar to the other, with staff joining in and having a laugh too. This pub has a lovely feel about it, it's like sitting in your lounge with a load of good mates around. The White Hart has become my local and I'm not even local! Keep up the good work guy's :-)

I'm glad to see that there is a new ladlord in this pub and they seem to be running the place very well.

Lmao, you are obviously one of the patrons who like the idea of a wannabe gangster running a boozer in the local area.
Forgive my spelling of villain, but you are correct there. Therefore you must also be a sycophant. Did i spell that right!
if you think this is deamed as a great pub, you aint been far outta wakering.
Im local by the way.
and i spell bad

For the local trader who cannot spell, there are better ways of generating business other than attempting to smear the good name of The White Hart Pub. I suggest:

1, Take spelling lessons.

2, Attempt to generate as much business as the White Hart does by also offering ice cold refreshments, great tasting food, fair prices coupled with second to none service while set in a pleasant environment.

Then, and only then, would you rival this great pub. Thus not needing to resort to the desperate measures of childish slurs.

The manager thinks he is a villian and there are a few sycophants to grease his ego.
The booze was overpriced and the staff did you a favour by serving you and taking your hard earned.
