The Miley seemed a strange little pub, tucked away behind some houses next to a hospital. The ale range was ok - Hopback World Hop Medley, Pitfields Red Ale, Morland Old Speckled Hen & Belhaven Golden Bay. Sadly I didn't notice the cider range until after I'd ordered. They had Double Vision, Millwhites Rioja Cask & Hedgelayer. A pub quiz was about to start. But I wasn't invited to join - just as well really as I had 5 more pubs to visit. There is a large outdoor area that you have to walk through to get to the entrance. Most of this is covered. So I guess it's used by smokers. I'm surprised this pub hasn't been in the Good Beer Guide since 2005. It was the second best pub I found in Rochford.

The picture certainly does not do the pub any favours at all,its quite neat and tidy and very, very handy and up there alongside the best other pubs in the town. This pub has improved over the last few years - the younger part of the family have taken a grip of things and transformed into a pleasant boozer from an old type place which was in need of an update. It's got it and it works. The staff are friendly and well presented and attentive to detail and the ales are very good. The upstairs restaurant flourished but is no more - moved elsewhere. Normally there are up to four ales available and good price value across the competitors. Live music is popular at weekends, sport and dats during the week along with Thursday nights open mike night. Well worth a visit.

I've been here about 4 times despite drinking in Rochford for 30 years. As previously said, there's a very small bar - a bit too small considering bands play here. Friendly staff - but the beer leaves a lot to be desired. On my last visit I had a pint of Bass and it tasted quite lifeless - little body to it and difficult to finish. I've tried other beers here and they've been better but my point is a lack of consistency. For that reason, I'll reserve my judgement until I've had a couple more visits.

Didn't know this pub existed until I saw it on here, but have to say I wish I hadn't have seen it. A poor pint of Adnams in mediocre surrroundings. Only saving graced is that there were some good looking women in there!

Cracking little boozer!
Never even knew it was there till I recently moved to the area and went there as part of a local pub crawl.
Friendly staff, jukebox, dart board, beer garden, WIN!

Rather a nice little pub. There's three decent ales on (Bass, Everard's Tiger and Adnams when I was there last) in a smallish but comfortable bar. There's live music most weekends and if the band is a bit loud (as it was for my middle-aged ears,) then just sit outside; the garden's quite pleasant. Midweek, it's nice and quiet and last night they had the Champion's League on the big screen.

The pub has really changed in the last few months. great bands and live music at the weekends. Friendly atmosphere and a good laugh.

Bass, Flowers IPA and Adnams Bitter on hand pumps. As previous reviewer commented the pub appears to now have changed to The Miley Bar. One of our football mates lives close and as a number were not open this was the next nearest to the station. A friendly barmaid served and kindly removed the sparkler for us. It was not the best tasting pint of the day however. A large screen TV was on a music channel and I understand a Thai restaurant is upstairs.

Recently had a refit. All the old junk has gone and the place is fresher and brighter. Very well run by Matt,Sarah, and Queen of the barmaids, the lovely Louise. Alex the goat on alternate saturdays, and live music most friday/saturday evenings and sunday lunchtime. Nice Thai restaurant upstairs (eves), and hot food/breakfasts most other times.

this is an old fashioned drinking den, dont bother

Quite amazing. DJ Alec the Goat on a Saturday is well worth a visit on his own with his vinyl only policy. RA was off when I went there, but comedy value counter-balanced this...
