Went again Sunday lunchtime (Sept 8): again no-one eating though menu looks fine. Beer in good nick, good welcome, quite a few locals in, hope this pub thrives 'cos it deserves to.

We used to camp here a lot (about 20 years ago) and went again Sep 16 for old times' sake. Good welcome, and very pleasant as always. Surprised to find no-one eating there (on a Sunday lunchtime ?). Decent pints of Palmers Copper and IPA, but the Dorset Gold was off.

Palmers Copper ale was in excellent condition, but the Best was off. Good pub lunch food and friendly locals on Sunday but very quiet during the week.

Very much a local's pub as well off the beaten track.

For those brave enough to risk an english summer there's camping in a field behind the pub with basic shower and toilet facilities.

Well kept Palmers beers on tap - Copper, Best and Dorset Gold- plus a cider and a small but well cooked menu available.

Well worth a visit.

great pub and even better locals, had a lovely time while camping there, they even let us have a proper camp fire!!!, if your going fossil hunting and staying there with your kids, its safe friendly and you will not want to leave!!!,
will be going back this year and i hope a few more times as well. 5*******

Pleasant enough, and a friendly welcome, but not much about it stands out. The Palmers beer was, well, just very average (I haven't yet had a pint of it that I like).

Mmmmmm, maybe its me but visited this pub last Tuesday evening and although we received a warm welcome the beer range was quite poor (two) and those weren't the best quality either...............
Also, unless you're a real dog lover it might be best to stear clear as there are dogs running and lying everywhere, and I mean everywhere, ok if you love the things but rather annoying if you want a drink and chat with the other half.........
Afraid we wouldn't return again.

This pub is rather hard to find, it is located after negotiating three and a half miles of winding single track lanes with typically high hedges. On arrival ( if you do) the awkward journey is fully repaid by a delightful pub which shows no signs of change from the passing of seventy years give or take electrically dispensed lager. This village is famous for the fact that the church holdsthe bones of a saint, the only saint to be buried in Britain ( you are lucky to get that information as Slerpy was very close to nodding off when this was imparted at some length. The pub is a Palmer's tied house , at the moment their beer is going through a very good patch ! I really don't know much about religious experiences but this pub is worth the pilgrimage.

Generally relies on locals during winter to keep it going - so says alot for the pub itself.

Friendly, lovely beer (Palmer's), excellent grub, a warm shelter on a cold evening - splendid.
