The Alexandra Arms is home of the Atomic Brewery, which is based in an outbuilding in the pub garden. Being a nice sunny day yesterday, we retreated to the garden. Ales were Atomic Strike, Hook Norton Old Hooky, Abbeydale Rita & Oakham Citra. There was also Broadoak Moonshine cider. Inside there are two rooms. The better of the two Atomic pubs I tried yesterday.

Bizarre pub sign - showing the end of the world.
The door that I entered through led to an empty snug, with an unmanned bar. There was the sign of life from the other room but not immediately obvious on how you get in there.
A sign saying ring the bell. No obvious sign of a bell. When I asked the barman, he didnt know where the bell was.
A poor pint of Hook Norton Hookey - on the turn, and hazy. Disappointing for a GBG 2019 Pub.

Pretty much the same as on my last visit. Nice local pub in town with decent ale.
A great little pub selling a variety of beautifully served draught beers. Sadly there were no Atomic beers on when I called in with the Jolly Boys Drinking Society but we were taken with the choice of ales and the atmosphere. We were made to feel most welcome and would thoroughly recommend the place to all thirsty travellers.
2 football matches on Al Jazeira TV when we popped in but a good range of beers an we particularly enjoyed the Atomic ales.
Perhaps suffering from the revitalization of the nearby Seven Stars, this place didn't quite live up to its billing although the ales were exceedingly well kept and a local punter helpfully pointed us in the direction of the railway station. There is pool out the back. Dropped from the Good Beer Guide recently.

With the recent addition of Abbeydales Deception as a permanent beer the pub is slowly turning back into a top drinking venue. Saturday night bands are now a regular feature.
Only 2 other people in the front bar on the Saturday afternoon i went in and one of them worked there! 4 people in the large back bar playing pool but the place really was empty.
After reading other reviews i did expect more from this place. 3 Atomic beers on the tap and i took the opinion of the bar maid and the choice was good. Nice pint and at the right temperture.
I just expected this place to be a bit better than it was.
I'm not running the place down i am just a little bit let down as i really thought this was going to be a cracking pub...maybe it is but not on the day i visited

The pub has recently changed hands and it has been bought by the lads form the Atomic Brewery. Little has changed as yet although the cellar has just undergone a complete refit. Appears the Abbot has been dropped ( not before Time) and it looks as if we should be in for a wider choice of beers form now. Good luck to the lads it will be a hard act to follow.

A lovely little boozer just off the town centre. This is the home of the Atomic & Alexandra breweries. The graden is a real bonus and we spent a very pleasant afternoon just enjoying the ales on offer. Yes it need a bit of TLC but this is a proper unspoit pub!!!

Lots of angles in the small bar of this pub which is sandwiched between new 'social' housing and a multi-story car park not far off the main street. You can also look through the window form the bar in to the pool room. Found the ale ( a dark Milehouse brew) to be good and the locals quite friendly. A pleasant 'community local' in the town centre.

Good little boozer. Local ale Petit Blonde very good. Worth a visit.
Back street local. Popped in on Sunday lunchtime. It wasn't busy, but the banter between the freindly locals and barmaid was very amusing. Clearly a pub that has a good number of regulars and I could see why. 6 real ales on two at least from local breweries, tried four of them between us and they were all very good. The menu offered tried and tested pub grub and the prices seemed reasonable. Didn't eat this time, but will give it a go when back in Rugby.

Just awful!
We have visited this pub three times in the last couple of weeks to give it a fair chance, but every time have found the same - unfriendly staff, dirty seats and tables, and a general atmosphere that feels like a Jeremy Kyle show - no-one seems to be able to talk to each other without shouting and swearing?!
Not worth a visit, the beer isn't even that great :(

OK so its not the best looking pub in Rugby.
Yes it could definately do with a lick of paint.
BUT it is one of the very few remaining places where "alternative" people are able to meet and drink without there being the potential for a riot. Due to the location of this small, yet homely, pub it is ideal for a quiet drink or two before you continue the rest of your night out.
The previous comments make reference to the disco which is put on some weekends, and about it being too loud. Do these people realise that the seven stars is just round the corner if they are looking for somewhere to sit in silence? Why, if it is such an issue do you continue to frequent the premises?
The food is proper pub grub, which suits me down to the ground, and the drinks are reasonably priced to match. As for the staff, I have never found them to be anything less than professional, cheerful and welcoming.
Top pub, lets hope that it sticks around, lest we lose yet more identity from Rugby and take another step toward becoming Chavby

Good beer, but pub interior is well dated and needs a sensitive refurb.
Great pub just off the main drag. Back room can be a bit noisy but beer is excellent and well worth a visit.
Once a favourite of mine, it has been more hit & miss lately The disco (well nearly always ACDC rather than Abba!) can be a pain if you sit at the back of the bar, but this has never really bothered me My recent visit found the beer good but I tired of the bar man moaning to every customer about having to work... Still worth a visit though
Mixed feelings about this pub. Location makes it good for finishing off, as it's not far from the train station. I've always found it to have a couple decent guests on, and the small room at the front is rather pleasant. But why the disco at the back? And why serve the shortest pint measures I've ever seen?
Good little pub tucked away just behind the town centre. Excellent range of beers on offer as well as a real cider. One of the "must do's" on any decent crawl of Rugby.
Sorry, please ignore my earlier review, I confused the Alexandra with the Victoria and posted on the wrong page by mistake.
I visited the Alexandra too; only had time for one pint and didn't notice the Petite Blonde until I'd already ordered one of the other four ales on offer. Decent enough ale pub, although I preferred most of others I visited in a good town for real ale drinkers.
Very nice cosy old style pub a bit off the beaten track from the town centre. Five of their own Atomic brews were on offer. I wasn't especially enamoured with the one I tried at random (Fusion I think) but there were guest ales on offer too.
Pleasant pub just off the town center well worth a visit. Has its own brewery with one of its beers available on pull. They had four beers on when I went .

An interesteing little bozzer by the towns major car park. Brews his own beer which was ok by the way. Large garden which we sat and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon.
Went once - most enjoyable. Amazing cross-section of punters!
A good back street boozer near the car park. Went in to try some of the Atomic ales but found non. However there was the landlords own beer petite blonde on at the bar which was quite pleasant. Good graden and good value food at luchtime.
Lovely friendly pub and we enjoyed the Petite Blonde too. Also had an excellent Oldershaw beer.
Excellant watering hole. The pubs Petit Blonde is a super ale. Recommended to anyone.
Popped in after looking on reviews on B.I.T.E. Don't normally review places but this one is special. Best place in rugby. The 'Petite Blonde' is superb stuff. Worth its rating!
The 'Petite Blonde' is lovely.
An Excellent watering Hole. I had this place recommended to me and boy do I owe them a drink. This place is fantastic. I had a couple of pints of the beer brewered in the micro brewery on site 'Petite Blonde' 3.9avb. (with the exception of local beer festivals) available in the pub only. Also had an half of Triple FFF 'Pressed Rat and Waithog'mild. The landlord told me he likes to serve plenty of milds and stoughts. The food was excellent and even at 12 lunchtime was steady with locals.
Excellent place, a couple pints of Alex Ale's Petite Blonde as 3.9% was very good as was their lasagne. Five ales were on in early January.
A nice little pub near the car park. Pleasant landlord and good staff make this a welcoming pub. Add to this a sensible chice of real ales and its very own brewery and you cant go too far wrong.
Friendly pub just off the town centre, mainly for older men. 5 casks - 2 Greene King, 3 guests. An old fashioned place, still retaining some individual rooms. There's a pool table in the pool room. No music. No tv. Food. I liked the place.
A friendly boozer with a good selection of ales. Can get a bit smokey although this will change. New Atomic Brewery can only enhance the pubs passion for real ales.
Good tradition boozer always a selection of guest ales and soon to have its own brewery.
