Okay okay, its overpriced and there is no atmosphere at this place but at least its an option that is acceptable compared to either drinking with the piss artists who hang out in Bar malden or getting my head kicked in in the railway. The disco tha they run here is horrid and the selection of beers is quite poor (although now they do san miguel at least there is some hope). This place, whatever name it has had in the past, has always not been busy. If they really want to do some big business then try turning it into a korean friendly pub or do something different with it.

there was a story floating about that if you ordered the 200 bottle of wine you got a free brass for the night. we asked and were turned down, still we did get free peanuts.

The Manager's name is Richard, Ronnie is the (female) owner you dork. Having said that, Richard is known locally as tightpants due to his, well, tightpants. He used to be The Proclaimers's (Will the Manager of Bar Boring, sorry Bar Malden) right hand man. Anyway, that's enough bitching: Ronnie's is also known as Bar Empty as it often is. Just got to let you all into a very big secret: Juliana's (the cook) home made red hot chilli sauce is not home made, she buy's it from a shop in Brixton (alledgedly).
Anyway, I like the place - alot. You can always get a seat - important. And watching Tightpants flap around provides the free entertainment.

Pros:
Reasonably smart in it's latest incarnation. Friendly service.
Cons:
Unadventurous and unchanging real-ale selection. Gets too smoky.

Its Called Ronnies because the owner named after herself Ronnie, Thinks its a huge improvment on the crap hole that was there enjoy it

Perhaps the bouncers are there in case someone develops an unnatural aversion to the type of pint glasses they use at Ronnie's.

I've always liked the idea of this bar, even back in the days when it had some weird name with squiggly lines. Went in for the firdt time since it was called Ronnies last Friday and it was a bit quiet, but quite relaxed. Suprised to find bouncers there though, and what the hell are those gay pint glasses they're using!!! Stop using that shit and bring back the proper pint glass you bunch of berkshires

Gotta love this place! Well you do if you work just across the road from it. Cheap wine for the laydees, decent beer for the chaps, good food at reasonable prices and the fact that it is somewhere other than the chav palace Railway make it a cubic zirconium in the gloomy, grey, concrete crown of New Malden.

Good after work bar.

Went for a quick drink after picking the wife up from the station across the road. Combination of service at the table, good cheap wine, real ale (only one unfortunately)and reasonably priced good food made us stay a lot longer than intended. Will be back again.

Yes, it's now called Ronnies. Ronnie himself used to work in Bar Malden opposite and must have looked across the road at BoBo's and thought "I could do better than that!". The people who go in there think he's managed it. It's women-friendly, serves interesting food and hasn't entirely done away with proper beer. Trouble is, the things that attract its clientele would probably put off most people. So poor Ronnie may find himself trudging back to Bar Malden.

Haven't been in there recent;y but it's been re-invented again twice in the past 6 months or so. So it's not Bo-Bo's, it was Ronnies or something like that for a while, now it's some sort of wine bar. Can't say I've ever seen anyone in there since.

Used to be 'Bar One' or something, quite a dingy place, but they have really done it up and probably is one of the better pubs for young people in New Malden - not that there's much competition!
JBH - 9 Jan 2003 13:28
Entirely kitted out from Ikea, lacks atmosphere & resides under New Malden's concrete hellhole that is Apex tower. But they do have Stella, Kronenbourg & Fosters at 1.60 every weeknight... :)
