Visited today before the match at Carrow Road. Was rather limited for time, tried 4 of the real ales on offer. Great variety and all in good condition. A 7% mild, a 7% IPA and two more towards the middle. Really enjoyed them all.

Have been here twice recently. A great range of beers and ciders. Beers from the Milton Brewery and guests, bottles from all over the place and more ciders and perrys than you shake a stick at. Worth a a visit.

Fantastic pub which I invariably drop in on when back in Norwich. I like my real ales, but I'm also a cider/perry fan, and this place has top quality examples of both in abundance. Always a good atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonably priced tasty meals, bar billiards, board games to hand, only a short walk from the city centre... What's not to like?!

Very quiet last Thursday afternoon, just a handful of customers, but although Milton beers are not one of my favourites my pint was tasty and in good condition. Nice to see so many proper ciders including local offerings on sale as well. Well worth a visit, and also a return visit or two if it stays in the same hands. A good experience even without a busy atmosphere.

Have visited pub in the past and was not impressed with beer or cider, however after visiting the other day things have changed. 9 beers on kept in top condition varying in strengths and catering for everyone, also lot of cider and perry. Management very knowledgeable, friendly and inviting as were the locals. Food was excellent and very good value. Well worth a visit, certainly my favourite in Norwich. The pub as mentioned before is actually called The White Lion.

Definitely one to visit. 8 beers on including 4 from the excellent Milton brewery and guests from Buffys and Leatherbritches amongst others. Two bars with tiled floors and lots of wooden tables and seating. Food is well priced and delicious and new Management also keen on real cider and Perry, both of local Orion and from further afar. About 10 were available today. All in all friendly welcome, excellent beer, cider and food. Definitely a must do!!

Definitely worth a visit.
Decent real ales.
"makes a nice change from the Fat Cat and its got some comfortable seats too - fantastic array of old pub photos and memorabilia - all in all a great little pub and an asset to Norwich !"
Yep.

Have applied 5 times for the pub to be put back as it's original name "The White Lion" on this site. Also asked 5 times that the cover picture changed.
The only change that the regulators of this site have finally done after 18 months, is to finally change the sign saying "CLOSED"

Repeat visit and found to my disappointment that it does not seem as good as before. Good choice of beers but some were not as well kept as before. Could just be an off night

Excellent Excellent Excellent! Fabulous food at bargain prices, the pork belly was fantastic, Sunday roast was the tastiest and best value roast I've had since 2005, that is serious. Try the black pudding if you get a chance.
Staff are friendly, clientle are friendly, beer garden is a cosy little place for a quick ciggie. Clean tiolets, nice billiards table, darts and daily newspapers, books to read and piano to play. And to top it all off, fantastic tasting, pristinely kept real ales of all tastes and shades (nice ciders too).
If you go to Norwich you should make the time to visit. 9 out of 10 from me (and I don't give 10's)

Good pub with a good selection of ales. I haven't been for a while but I hope to give it a look this weekend.

Been open for 11 months now. Real ales selling well. Beer garden soon to open (awaiting planning permission!) Kitchen work finished, hope to serving fresh traditional pub food from mid-september. We will be having a beer festival to celebrate one year anniversary of re-opening starting 29th Sept 2009.

Now fully refurbished with lots of bare wood and beams, this is an impressive addition to the already burgeoning Norwich Real Ale circuit. When we visited six Milton beers were available in cluding Sparta and Dionysus and the strong stout Marcus Aurelius. The Landlord was friendly and talkative about his Pub and beers. He is in the process of having a kitchen fitted and plans to offer plain Pub fare to compliment the beers. Will be calling in again when I next go to Norwich

In an encouraging move, the old White lion pub that has been almost derelict for a number of years has been renovated and re-opened. It is a Milton Pub and has a range of their real ales available. I sample the Spartan, Minotaur (a chocolate mild) and the Dionysus. It seems that the only lager available is a Czech of dubious origins, but Ive not got a problem with that. There is a wide choice of bottled lagers including Belgian beers. The dcor is smart; the red walls are pleasant if you dont mind the modern trend for bold colours. I got the impression that the developers had invested well in the bar decoration, and stinted a bit on the toilets. Ill be dropping in again to complete a tasting of the other Milton beers available, purely on a use it or lose it rule.

Went in the Coalheavers in Peterborough and was told this pub is now open as a Milton pub. Will be visiting while in Norwich for the festival this week.

Just bought by Milton Brewery. Being refurbished and to be opened as a traditional real ale pub by end of September.
