Popped in for lunch on a lovely bright spring day, wow, was I disappointed.
Service with a smile please, it doesn't cost anything. The bar lady was cold, sour and bordering on rude. Food wasn't a lot better and was expensive for what it was ( a sandwich and ciabatta)
It's a nice looking pub in a great village and should have been a nice experience, instead I felt like I'd gate crashed a funeral.

I would turn the stakes into tooth picks myself could not use them here tho not enough food to get caught in your teeth.

I would have thought the "stakes" might be a bit tough on the teeth!!!!!

This pub is a country delight, the staff are all kind and attentive, including the large friendly spaniel ha ha. Food is fantastic, even though i am not personaly a fishy person. But you must try the stakes absolutley superb. They also have a good range of ales if that is your thing, though i am a lager drinker myself. If you are passing pop in i am sure you will be visiting again and again. Top marks for a lovely ENGLISH pub.

I have been visiting the Barley Mow regularly over the past year and am impressed everytime I take my family there. The staff are always pleasant and helpful and the food is always excellent. I have to disagree with the comments about the portion sizes, we have always found them to be ample and sometimes cannot finish everything on our plates! All of the food here is freshly prepared and the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get, the fish is fantastic and sometimes very unusal! I highly recommend giving this pub a visit - you will not come away disappointed!

Called as we were passing felt a bit hungry ordered our food finished it all and still felt hungry,so i would agree with Stroller. We would have to order about 3 mains each to fill us up and we arn`t very big eaters. It`s not cheap for food or drink but the place is clean except when you get a smelly dog near you.
As for the best pub for miles around yes i have to agree with Anne as well as its the only pub for miles.

The beer is good and it has a good wine list. The thing that is special about this pub is the food. Cooked fresh from scratch it has fish specials each day. The portions are big but they will 'doggy bag' for you. The pub has its own dog and allows dogs. The garden is lovely and smokers are looked after. Best pub for food for miles around. No music or TV.

We could not remember if we had been here before so thought give it a try.Well as soon as the food came out we looked at the portion size and remembered we had.Very small amount of food for a main course more like a starter (9.50)only had a shandy so no comment on beer, but not recommened for food keep driving and find The Donkey also the other Barley Mow in Tilford not recommened
Poss. this comment won`t` last long but be warned.

I am not a beer drinker so can't comment on what ale they have! But we have had some delicious meals there. It is slightly off-the-beaten-track but a real gem. Delightful staff, never over crowded or smoky. Open fire in the winter. pretty beer garden in the summer. Peaceful - I love it.
