user reviews of the Station Hotel, Framlingham

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Four ales from the Earl Soham brewery available. Both the Victoria bitter and Gannet mild were in fine shape, as well as being very reasonably priced.

The focus seems to be more on food than on beer. It's not a large place and a majority of the tables were reserved on our Saturday lunchtime visit. There are separate menus for lunchtime and evening, with the evening menu proudly proclaiming "no chips".

went to this pub last night.Isn,t it time some money was spent on the decor.Food was good but I gather the owner is managing a fish and chip shop at the coast.Maybe he will be able to spend some money to bring the pub into the twntieth century. Fair Pinta

The Station Hotel is the nicest place in Framlingham to eat, has a great selection of local drinks, and is not undermined by the younger crowd. The only things that let this pub down are its location, it is very much for the older generation (although some would argue that is a good thing) and it is quite small. The best pub in Framlingham for a quiet drink and nice meal. The Crown Hotel is getting better but the bar staff or food aren't as nice as The Station Hotel.

I originally tried this because it was my nearest Earl Soham Bitter stockist [a lovely beer, but unavailable in Woodbridge until recently]. Having read the reviews on this sight, I chanced a meal there and was not disappointed - excellent service, an interesting menu, and the quality of the cooking could not be faulted.
My only criticism - which this reveiw might help to remedy - was that it had too few people in it on both occasions. Maybe the slightly spartan appearance of of bare plank floor and simple pine furniture does not appeal to a traditional pub crowd.

The Station Hotel should be used as a generic blue-print any landlord looking to make over an existing pub. Fantastic, locally brewed beers and cider, interesting range of continental lagers and the food served in the evenings is of the absolute highest standards. I have lived in Suffolk for the majority of my life and have not yet, as far as I can recall found a more consistantly good eatery, coupled with its relax atmosphere and good booze, the station is second to none!

i love this pub. I wish there were more around like this. the food is great. locallly sourced and really inventive. a great place to go with a crowd of mates, where you can sit around on big wood tables and put the world to rights.
