If you like 60s school canteens you will just love this place but if you like a country pub you will hate it. Completely spoilt by small tables which are low and sticky, food is ok but very pricey for a canteen. Beer is ok if you like bitter from the tap at 3.60 other than that there is no choice, nice garden overlooking a fence and hedge, seems to attract yuppy sorts strange as this is a village pub.

Pretentious, mais non. This is just a pub restaurant that seems to get the basics right. Simple, uncluttered and clean dining room. Attentive staff, friendly but not over-familiar, who look smart and clean in their black uniform. A menu that is not overcrowded, but has enough variety to allow for a reasonably priced and cheerful lunch or a more expensive celebration.

The Fountain is NOT a pub - it is a place "where friends meet and eat". The food and service are excellent. The staff are friendly and it has a welcoming atmosphere. The House wine is excellent and reasonably priced and there is a good selection of beers and cider. My favourite place to eat.

Not a bad place however don't go if you are feeling hungry! Disapointing small portions of over hyped and over priced food! Nether the less nice feel about the place if a little pretentious. Drinks over priced too

Pretentious restaurant masquerading as a pub. Warm Adnams bitter available direct from the barrel.

I have been to this pub quite a few times now. It has always without exception been (even on very busy days) excellent service and food. They were very good about changing items on the menus and accommodating special diets. The staff are just in the background but ready to appear just as you wish to order food/drinks. They have the idea of good service down to a tea. I really do recommend this pretty and friendly pub.
They also do set priced menus and I hear you can now book tables. I cant fault it.

Excellent food and sophisticated atmosphere. The highlight of my visit to the Fountain was the very friendly, efficient staff who would carry out any request immediately. Definitely more of a restaurant than a pub but with well kept Adnams ales. The only let down would be the fairly small, very enclosed garden, but the covered outside area which is heated is a nice touch.

An really unfriendly and pretentious pub! Horrible!

Excellent food, fast service (but you can't book which can be a pain sometimes), reasonably priced from the set menu. Would definately visit again

Have been to this pub several times now. Each time the staff are very good - excellent service. Food is good and they do set menus. Had Xmas meal here which was good they were busy but the service was really effecient. Recommned. Nice location and good parking too.

Not a true Pub at the moment but a Resturant, Pub style drinkers seemingly not encouraged, but by most reports the food is excellent.
