Clearly a popular inn especially with families, serving slightly above-average old school pub food. The service and the building are first rate, and much else is 'good enough to offend no-one', including the Morland Original. Rating is a little high in my view, but also we could imagine sitting outside on a warm summer's day and being very content.

Being in a country pub with good food, good beer and a welcoming atmosphere that hasn't had a Farrow and Ball gastro makeover made me smile. Smile a lot in fact.
Big portions (esp the whitebait starter) sorted me out properly, and a nice surprise was the "free top up" on the coffee. We tried to extend this to beer but failed :)
This place doesn't need a makeover as it seems well liked and busy. Other similar pubs take note, and save on the interior design bills.

Food was good, however they mixed up the wine order, beer was in good condition - nice place for a quiet family evening, got the impression the staff want to make you feel welcome.

Visited for a family lunch recently. The food was very good, the service was excellent. The pub is a far cry from the place it was 25 years ago when it was a regular drinking haunt. Still has the water-cooled jackets on the casks behind the bar, but the beer (Greene King IPA and Morland Original) is mediocre I am afraid.

Excellent pub run by hardworking folk who deserve to do well. Always a really warm welcome. Beers kept well and nice choice. Food is simple, but quality ingredients, very well cooked. Steaks good, salad fresh. Ham, Eggs & Chips wonderful. Who could ask for more from a small country pub? Will keep going back and recommending to others.

The food is very good I would recomend the raspberry crumble it was historic. Atmosphere more like a pub restaurant than a pub with food iff you know what I mean. The beer was first class.Service excellent. What more can you ask of a pub.

I kept driving by (well being driven by) and thinking how inviting it looked so eventually went in. What a lovely place, really sweet, friendly staff. A lovely place to go as a couple or a small group of friends wanting a quiet drink. I can't wait to get back there, it's great.
