Fox Inn, Tamworthback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Went for a Family Meal today for Sunday Lunch. Fantastic time as was my daughter's Birthday. Balloons were put on table and bottle of bubbly given to us for free. Food very good at reasonable price, staff could not do enough, will be going again.

The fox is a good and friendly pub with friendly staff and management who always seem to be warming when coming in.
The drinks are reasonable costs and due to the friendly staff it means the fox has became our local pub over the last year. The pub caters for all ages and seems to attract a good age range especially on the quiz on Sundays nights.

Really sorry if i come across like a grumpy old git here but im gonna have abit of a moan about which was once my favourite pub.
In my opinion, its just not what it used to be. Been my local boozer for years, but recently sold off by ember inns. the current owners (sorry i forget who) are really aiming at younger clients e.g offers on shots and pitchers of carling etc and playing dance music in the background. in the last 3 or 4 times iv visited there have been big groups of roudy 18-30s making noise and mess. also allowing kids for the first time, which doesnt bother me usually but there are loads of them!beer is very average as is the food, but you pay higher than average prices.
The pub itself is a good size but needs decorating, the fox got flooded out twice many years ago and doesnt seem to have seen a lick of paint since.i recommend you go up the road to the tame otter. Better in every way in my opinion, but always alot busier than the fox...says alot though i think

Had a family day out for my mothersday, had a wonderfull time at Fox with some free truffles. Kids were kept occupied with outdoor findafox game whch was great. Meals were of very good standard an at reasonable price. Staff were attentive and great with kids. Will be visiting again soon with family.

A small Ember Inn. Always running out of items on the menu. Big garden area. Go to another Ember Inn, and the food is always better.

No review for 2 years, or so, so i thought i would pop in for the first time in a few years. Its a large, multi-building, white rendered, Ember Inns pub, with beer garden and patio.
The interior is open plan, with plain red and peach walls, with some white wood panel, with arty pictures and stacks of chopped wood! snazzy carpet goes with sofas and stool to create a real soulless interior. There was a quiz going. Service was fine, the clientele younger to mixed, but it was popular. I didnt try the food.
Beer; tap stuff, with Banks's Bitter, Pedigree and Adnams Explorer on handpull.
No U14s were allowed - i did see the sign, but it could be missed to be fair. However, why on Earth would you want to bring them here? Pop up to the Otter or Red Lion in Hopwas, far better

I cant believe what my eyes are reading on here!!! rbaily... why didnt you read the signs? Maybe you did and tried your look...are you old enough for a child?! Anyway... this pub has recently been flooded and has been refurb'd in areas were needed... Its a lovely modern pub without kids running around... Which makes a change for some pubs up the road... you cant walk without a child knocking you and spilling your drink.. The Fox is tranquil with a lovely resting area in the rear garden with plenty of space.... Fab service from all bar staff! All age groups go here all very friendly , people with kids under 14, enjoy the rear garden to eat meals, drink and enjoy there day.. They do have many locals, many people returning week after week! The foz isnt always tranquil, they have Themed nights for the adventurious people and quizet's!!! What do you people want?? Theres other pubs around Tamworth if you want kids running...hehe... P.s i live in polesworth and i travel the sometimes 20mins drive to come to the fox every week, i love the place!!

I agree with the comments of RBAILY. One of the most family un-friendly pubs in town. Given the location of this pub,i.e not town centre, the owners perhaps should consider altering their policy in certain areas of the place....

Strange roundabout pub. Its full sofas that swallow you up - one of which was home to around 20 warrior-class thunderflies. The beer is fine, although the staff appeared to be at least one man down.

Don't go, Some Ember Inns are OK but this is not one of them, poorly laid out, poor staff. Cross the river to the Tame Otter or better still the Red Lion at Hopwas a couple of 100 yards or so away.

The service I received 11 September 2005, 12:30pm:
I asked if I could order food and drinks. The lady serving me replied asking where I was sitting, to which I pointed to my girlfriend bottle feeding our five month old son. She then said Yes I see.
She went ahead and took the order, before bringing along cutlery and serviettes to our table. To which my girlfriend feeding our son on her lap was openly visible.
After approximately another five minutes a lady came across and told us we had to leave, as children under 14 were not allowed in the pub.
We said that they my girlfriend and son had been seen first when the food was ordered, and next when the serviettes and cutlery was placed on our table. All we got in response was that the lady could not have seen us, our son must have still been in his car seat, we said no he was on my girlfriend's lap. We also said how could she have not seen him when she allocated the serviettes and cutlery. To which she repeated the early comment about she must not have seen him.
I felt this lady tone was quite rude and dismissive of us. Notably she did not think to consult with the lady that served us, who ironically was nowhere to be seen at this point.
After receiving my refund for the food and drink purchased we had to take our son out to the car park and finish feeding him in the car.
My girlfriend was quite upset at this especially given that it was quite obvious that we had a young son with us from the outset.
If this is correct, and that they do not allow under fourteens' in their public houses, then why is there no appropriate signage ? In addition why it is not pointed out immediately ?
