Yes, a loss.
It was certainly a little rough around the edges and a local's pub, but came in here a few times down the years with mates to watch football and never had any bother/friendly enough. It was a just above average boozer in my view, but you have few if any places like that left in this part of town now.
It is sad but this area has changed totally, and it is what Kings Cross was 10-20 years ago, not what it is now.

Another one bites the dust sold by greedy developers ,one of the last pubs in the ares .

A one bar pub which was full of what appeared to be locals at time of visit. Friendly atmosphere with an efficient barman. Had one real ale on at time of visit 'O'Hanlons' which to be honest I needn't have bothered with, pleasant enough pub for a quick pint on the way through to somewhere else.

Had a Great Night here on Saturday night the barstaff remembered the round for our table so everytime we went up for a drink they just asked if we wanted the same again which was handy for me as i normally get someones drink in the round wrong, Great all round entertainer in there singing and cracking a few jokes and getting people invoved with her Banter, I will definately go back just to see Edna she was a great laugh and everyone in my crowd enjoyed their Evening.

Dead for a Sunday afternoon which was a shame. Largish exterior fools as it is not that large inside. Ornate, one-roomed London boozer with large mirrors and dark wood. What struck me was how bright, clean and neat it was - all the bottles in the fridge were front-faced for example. One real ale - Bombardier - which was good. Barmaid not that engaging, but this is London, so no qualms there. I liked it.

Called in last saturday afternoon. Not too busy. Locals pub. Did have Fullers ESB on which was on form.

Great atmosphere , I am always made welcome when I turn up on my visits to London , I stay at the Trave Lodge across the road and I have never had a bad thing to say about this pub. What you see is what you get , nice pint too.

Popped in here for about ten minutes yesterday early evening and, as was the case for Millay, the clips were turned round on each handpump. And without that, there wasn't too much to recommend this unmodernised local's pub in the badlands between Kings Cross and Exmouth Market. The most noteworthy feature is the fake brickwork which another poster comments on! That and a beer (?) called 'Toby' on tap which looked slightly intriguing, but which I didn't try.
|
Neither handpump had a clip on last night but I was told they haven't stopped serving real ale they just didn't have any. I hope that's right as this place doesn't strike me as a lager pub. Good down to earth boozer full of character and characters.

Friendly, typical London boozer with a nice wooden bar and large mirrors (albeit replete with awful stuck-on 1970s fake brickwork). Pint of Landlord on a quiet Sunday early evening was fine.
|
after secretarys comments i just wanted to suggest that you go in there on a saturday night when they have different live music every week and the pub is packed!!
|
The real ale so often seems to be tired & old, and there never seems to be anyone in there unless there is a darts match. The worst thing is the continual stream of 40 year old music.

Large fronted corner pub that doesnt look too attractive, but I spotted a couple of hand pumps so ventured inside. They has Spitfire and Landlord on and I ordered the latter, at which point the real Landlord jumped in saying it was near the end of the barrel and offering me a taste first to make sure it was OK. I was quite impressed with that, I rarely get that sort of consideration in a pub where I am a regular let alone one where its my first visit. As it turned out the beer was fine, and judging by the CAMRA newsletters available it usually is. This is more of a pub for a quiet lunchtime reading a newspaper or working out a 20p yankee than for a special night out but it has a nice local feel to it which you dont see too often these days.

Maybe I'm biased because I was born a few doors down 50 years ago but I got a friendly welcome without the neighbours routine. Good service too.

Pleasant on Saturday 12 April at night, with Hadas Trainin (from Team Productions) on stage. Good and friendly atmosphere. I'll be back!
